Ugg! Commented on the wrong post. Take two!
I remember using pin curls as a child when my hair was short. They were far preferable to the perms my mother tried to give my sisters and I. The smell, that poof, the no swimming rule… ugg. I’ve been using hot rollers (fabric covered, wax core) for several years now, but it has gotten to the point where another set is necessary.
I didn’t think that pin curls would work on my currently waist-length hair! They did, and I received many compliments. It is wonderful to find a way to curl my hair that looks great and that doesn’t leave it begging for hours of intense conditioning the next day! I may have to curl my hair more than once a month now! Rag curls also look like a good option. Maybe they will be more comfortable to sleep on than pin curls. I’ll have to try them. I, and my hair, thank you for the great advice!
Pin curls will work on your hair, but you’ll have to make a million of ’em with very little hair in each one! I’d definitely try the rag curls, I think you’ll really like the results once you figure out how many curls work best for you. I’ve never found a set I like better than rag curls, and the longer my hair gets, the more I like them. They still work well with my hip-length hair, though my arms do get pretty tired, LOL!
