I saw the commercial,too.   Haven't tried them though.  If you do,let us know!

Well, I went to the store today and found the spinpins.  They come in a set of two.  For a regular bun, you're supposed to use them both -- one placed from the top of the bun and one from the bottom.  The packaging also suggests a (vertical) double-bun style where you use one pin per bun.  Just to play around, I put my hair up in two little buns.  The pins are holding pretty well, so far.  I can see this being a good option for when I want to wear one of my Geisha Hairsticks or my Japanese hairpin without extraneous pins.

They are actually really easy to put in your hair... just twist in in a clockwise direction.

The ends are coated in the same suff as regular bobby pins, so they don't pull or tear. 

For me, the hardest part was taking them out.  I had trouble getting hold of the pin to start spinning it counterclockwise.  Once I got it started, though, it came out easily.

I found them at Walmart and thought they looked very smooth and not likely to damage your hair.  I didn't buy them, though, because my hair is very fine and the pins would show.  I wish Goody made a smaller version.
