Hi!

Just wanted to know if anyone had a really good hairstyle for someone who dances a lot (salsa dancing mostly) and has to keep her hair tightly done up and close to my head (which I have not been able to find a style that will accomplish this). My dance partner gets annoyed when I hit him in the face with my hair. 

My hair is fairly long (to my waist) and is very thick. So far, my mother has been putting it in a french braid and looping it under. I would like to find something better as, after a while, this begins to get loose and look a little sloppy.
Any recommendations?

Hi, Goldie.  I agree with KNS, I'd go with two buns.

An alternative to the two buns could be a lace braid across the front that you wrap around a low bun.  If you braid the bun (3 strand or rope braid) it will take up some of the bulk.  Get yourself some Amish hair pins-they don't weigh a lot and can really secure your hair.  They're the only hairpins I use on my thick hair.
