Complimenting others hair
Jan 2nd, 2005 at 3:33pm

How often do you compliment strangers on their hair?

I have to say that I'm a bit shy and never muster the courage to tell people how great I think their long hair looks unless I know them personally.

And yet, it seems like I am always seeing women with just gorgeous long hair.  It amazes me that so many people can wear their hair down and keep it looking healthy, and I want to tell them how great it looks.

Although I am shy and a very quiet-natured person I still end up coming across some people in the world with lovely long hair. If I happen to already be standing nearby then I'll drop a quick and usually quiete compliment and they'll say 'thank you' or just give an appriciative smile and nod. Other times they either don't hear me or ignore me.

I will compliment anyone on their hair if the opportunity presents itself, such as, standing in line or a crowd  or in an elevator and casual conversation might be started anyway.  If a person has exceptional hair, I have been known to hand them a LongLocks card and suggest they check us out.

now that's cute  Grin
personally i don't see too many longhaired people here in my little town in france. saw many in brussels but the state of their hair wasn't worthy of any compliment though. yes, standards get high when you're into long hair care lol.

I'm with bikerbraid!  I eagerly walk up to someone with long hair and openly admire their 'locks'.  Sometimes the person seems a bit embarassed by my enthusiasm, but more often than not they are pleased by the compliment.  Often I'll leave it at that, say have a nice day and walk away - but sometimes we'll begin chatting, they will always notice my ever-present long locks hairsticks - and when they comment - I, too pull out one of susan's business cards (which come handily with each purchase) and pass it out.  On the rare occasion that I'm out of cards - I'll write the web site down on a post it and hand it to them.  Believe it or not, I'm a PAINFULLY shy person in public.  Long hair seems to be the only thing that lets my guard down around others Grin

In my country, it's not simply normal to start casually chat with total strangers. If one does that, people think that she might be a bit weird.
There are exceptions, though, and if I was in a suitable situation, I think I just might give a compliment.

LL hairsticks certainly attract positive attention! I have a long-haired colleague, who looks my hair first everytime we meet, just to see how beautiful hairsticks I'm wearing that time. It's really cool.

I haven't complimented strangers on their hair.  I have been noticing more long hairs lately though, mostly because of my decision to become a long hair one day, and from reading & participating in this board.  I am too much of an introvert to strike up conversation usually, but I've been tempted!  Maybe some day....
