One of the questions we are asked most, especially by those seeking to buy a gift of hair jewelry for someone special, is what colors of hair accessories coordinate best with any particular hair color. To provide some guidelines to help make determining the best hues for certain hair colors easier, we have created the LongLocks Hair Jewelry Color Chart. While obviously useful for choosing hair jewelry that coordinates well with any hair color, the chart below can be applied to clothing, makeup and other accessories, and can help when choosing a special effect hair dye (with regard to our Creating Special Effects Using Dramatic Hair Color tutorial), as well. Do keep in mind these are only guidelines and the many variations in hair color, skin tone and eye color can influence any one person's best colors. This chart is not by any means meant to be all-inclusive. Every hair color has a much broader range of appropriate colors than appears below, and not every combination of physical characteristics will work with every color listed based solely on hair color, though it should be a very good starting point to get you off in the right direction. When purhasing a gift of LongLocks HairSticks, it is also important to consider color preferences. If the intended recipient loves purple but doesn't care for green, the best colors for her are amethyst or Swarovski's Cardinal, not olivine or peridot no matter what the color chart may suggest. You can rarely go wrong when choosing a known favorite color! How to Use the Hair Jewelry Color ChartHair colors appear in the first column of the chart. Hair color occurs in an endless number of shades, choose the one that is closest to your own.Examples of the suggested coordinating hair jewelry hues for each hair color appear in the second column. Remember, colors can vary greatly on different monitors, so if the teardrop looks green on your monitor but the descriptive text says "blue," the description should be trusted over what your monitor displays. Linked beneath each color teardrop is a link that will take you directly to search results of items in the boutique that fall within the range of colors in that hue. Suggested search terms appear in the third column. These terms are common to beaders and are used throughout the descriptions of the hair jewelry you will find on the LongLocks HairSticks Boutique. Colors marked with an "*" denote color names that, while not exclusively, are commonly used to refer to contemporary and vintage Swarovski® Crystal colors (you may assume the name is correct even if it seems an unusual descriptive term for the expected color or an odd spelling).
