Growing Gold
Apr 13th, 2010 at 7:58pm

Here I am! I am going to get to long hair this time! My hair is naturally a golden blonde (similar to my avatar picture, although not nearly that long) and very straight. The individual strands are very fine, but I have a lot of them, so my hair is pretty thick. It's only about an inch above my shoulders now, and I am so excited! I grew it out from a pixie cut, starting about a year and a half ago.
I am shooting for mid-back right now, but I would like to go maybe a little longer in the long run. But for now, I'm just focusing on keeping it healthy and letting it grow! Wish me luck!

Please pardon my awful editing on the photo, but I really didn't want to show my face online Smiley

Welcome to the land of hair journaling!  You're off to a good start growing out a pixie.  Very pretty hair color.

You'll notice there are a lot of pics around here of the backs of our heads, so you might want to take some that way.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I didn't have anyone around at the moment to take the picture, and I wanted to start the journal. And if I could manage to take a good quality pic of the back of my head, I am more talented than I am giving myself credit for! Grin

I stand facing away from a mirror and take a picture of the mirror with my camera over my shoulder.

Today I had to follow Rule # 1 and get my hair cut Sad The show I was just in, Noises Off, required me to flip my hair out every night, which meant a curling iron. Three weeks of doing this every single night, and my ends were split and dry, no matter how much oil and/or conditioner I put in. So I had to get a trim.
Only an inch was taken off, and at least my hair now is all one length. But it was almost to my collarbone, and now it's back above my shoulders. Sigh.

That's ok!  Better to have healthy shorter hair than split ends and damage to longer hair!

Now you know why so many gals in show business wear wigs. Roll Eyes

Don't fret, love. It will grow back. Take good care of it.

Yeah. And at least it's all one length; for a while I had an angled bob, which was okay, but would have been weird to grow once it got past my shoulders. Now it's just a waiting game! Smiley

I am feeling really impatient today. Let's see... hair grows, on average, about half an inch per month? School starts at the end of August, so I should have about 2 more inches on my hair by my last year of college (hallelujah, to the longer hair AND to the last year of college!)
And by the time I go to Ireland in August 2011, I should have about 8 inches on it! Yay! Regular trims clearly will take some of the length off, but that's still about BSL, or at least to my collarbone at the shortest.

GROW HAIR, GROW! Roll Eyes

Sounds like you have a positive outlook.  I had an angled bob and losing a bit of length to even things out was for a while the best decision.  It certainly is if one's long term goal is one long blunt length.

It's been about a month since I had to trim my hair, and that 1/2 inch seems like it has grown back. It still feels shorter, because it's now once length; before, the front was longer than the back. But it's only about an inch away from my current goal, which is collarbone length! Woo! Cheesy
