Sharing combs
Nov 10th, 2009 at 9:16am

Hey all, so I know that most of us hear from a really early age that "Thou shalt not share combs!!!" This came with the lice testing most of us US people had in elementary school etc, etc.

Well, on with the question. Lately my DH has been enjoying it when I comb out his hair. He likes the attention, and I'm glad to help him avoid getting more splits in his hair. Problem is, he doesn't have his own vast array of hair toys, so I generally end up using my own personal horn comb.

Is this a problem? I mean, my DH is not like some random person I met a school, you know? What do you all think? Thanks in advance for any responses!  Smiley

I don't see a problem.  Like you said, the no-sharing-of-brushes thing comes from the lice problems when kids are in school.  Like girls sharing brushes at slumber parties or something.

The only thing I would think to watch out for is hair product getting picked up on the comb and getting transferred to your hair, say if he uses gel or the like.

Or if he has any scalp problems that might be fungal, although I'm guessing if he did, you would have already answered your own question.  Cheesy

So long as neither of you have lice, it's fine. I use my combs on my sister's hair all the time and she likes them. Smiley

Haha. Thanks guys. I figured it wouldn't be an issue, but it came up with morning and we were both uncertain.

Nope, no product to beware. He never uses product, and the only leave-in I use is my very light detangling spray. I use a different comb for that, since my hair is wet when I apply it. Of course, he's welcome to use THAT comb, as well. If he ends up distributing a bit of my detangler into his hair in the process, I'll consider that a bonus!  Cheesy

I don't see a problem.  The problem is much more problematic if you borrow his Denman brush and there's mattening, hardening wax on it. Grin
