Hair rats
Jun 7th, 2009 at 7:32pm

I made a hair rat out of pantyhose so I could 'bump' the hair at the crown of my head.  However, not only does the rat slide around everywhere while I'm trying to put hair over it (even with a pin through the bottom of the rat, pinning it to my hair), but my hair on top slides off the sides!  Angry  Has anyone else ever tried to do this?  Am I doing something wrong?  I'm considering putting some Velcro on it, but I think Velcro might be harmful to my hair.  Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Try wrapping it in a hairnet.  I have some rats from Patrick Cameron that are synthetic hair in a hairnet.  Works great.

Um, Velcro is asking for trouble.

Eeek!  NO VELCRO!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a braid tangled with velcro. I do everything possible to keep it as far from my hair as possible.

As for the rat, the nylon is slippery, so covering it with a hairnet or some other hair safe material that has some texture should work.

I made my own hair rat with synthetic hair and a hair net, and I just use pins to hold it in place.  Bc it is basically hair in a net, the pins hold it just like they would hold my real hair Smiley  I use Amish pins bc I have thick hair, but bobby pins might work good for you for a tighter grip.
