How do i do a vinegar rinse? 1st timer
Dec 15th, 2008 at 6:12pm

Hi. How do I do this vinegar rinse? How often? And what is the reason for it?  Also, what kind of vinegar do I use. I have a huge bottle of distilled white vinegar in my fridge is that ok to use?  And I need to know exactly how to do it. Instructions please ???     Thanks Smiley

Vinegar rinses give your hair & scalp a clean sweep by removing build-up. It's best to do them once a week.
Distilled white vinegar is fine to use. Most people here use either distilled white vinegar (DWV) or apple cider vinegar (ACV).

From what I understand, it's best to take an empty water bottle and pour in a little vinegar - how much is up to you. Whatever you think you need. Fill the rest with water, shake it up, then pour the vinegar rinse over your hair after washing. Oh, and make sure that it's not unbearably cold. Wink

Here is another topic that describes vinegar rinses.

Thanks ladies. And thanks to you bb for the additional topic. One more question? For those of you who use the vinegar last after conditioning does your hair smell like vinegar?  To be on the safe side I'm going do it before I condition.

I've found that once my hair is dry, you cannot smell the vinegar.  HOWEVER...... if it does get damp again, there is a hint of vinegar smell again until it dries.  For this reason, I prefer to condition after the rinse, eliminating the potential "salad head" scent.
