From what I understand, washing less often, if you can, is better for your hair.  I wash two to three times a week, and my hair is thin, fine and straight.  Others wash everyday.  It depends on what works best for your own hair and scalp.

It all depends. If your scalp is oily, it should be washed daily. If it's dry, you can get away with washing less often. Whenever you think your hair needs it.

There are many wash methods besides the standard shampoo & condition - you don't have to wash all of your hair every time. Try this and that if you feel like it. Long hair care is all about trial & error.

Like Skyfire, I also have thin, fine, straight hair and my scalp gets washed every day. The length probably every other day. And I clarify once a week. But I've had years to figure out what works and what doesn't, so you'll probably have to do the same.

Best of luck. Smiley

I never wash my hair. I use Conditioner+a little bit vinegar to wash/condition it. I do it every 3 day. Before wash day I put a little coco nut oil in my hair over night to condition.

I have butt-length, thick, straight hair and I wash it as little as possible.  When I was using commercial shampoo & cond.  I washed it once on the weekend only, and left it during the week.  I have an oily scalp, but since my hair is so long my ends don't get that oil as much, and therefor my hair would benefit from not being washed everyday and I would just comb>brush>brush daily to make sure there's no knots and to make sure I distribute the oils from my scalp down to my ends.  I just switched to trying a shampoo bar and now I was maybe 2 times a week, or still as little as possible.

I usually find my hair is best a day or two after I wash also.  Everyone's  hair and scalp are different but I reccomend going as long as you can.

My general rule of how I know to wash my hair is if my hair feels dirty (not oily, I mean actually dirty) and you can see buildup on your scalp or roots, it is probobly time to wash it.  Another way I can tell if my hair is dirty is that it is VERY prone to knotting.  If my hair is very dirty (not just oily) and I brush it out, it will just knot back up again as I am brushing it, at my ends especially.

You should try to go a few days wihtout washing!  Who knows, you might like the resuslts!

Oh also, I never really liked getting my hair wet if I wasn't going to wash it in the shower becuase it makes my hair feel..off.  So if you are showing and not washing your hair, I would try to keep it dry, but that's just me!

My hair is curly, so if I want to wear it down I basically have to get it wet all the way through and comb it.  I do NOT consider this washing, just wetting.

My the ends of my hair are dry but the scalp gets oily if I go a few days without shampoo.  So what I do is I only shampoo the scalp, but condition heavily and wear oils on the ends to keep them from drying out.
