Hello Leibe_Und_Krieg,
Since you posted in this forum, I'm guessing that you have fine hair.
It's common for the ends of fine hair to dry out after 2 months (as I've noticed, being that I have fine hair myself). I usually don't go longer than 3 months between trims.
You should also be deep conditioning at least once a week. If once a month works for you, great, but I personally don't think it's enough.
Also, wearing the same hat every day can cause breakage since it sits on exactly the same place on your hair all the time. Fine hair is the most susceptible to breakage and does not appreciate things being placed on or in it all the time.
If you don't have a seamless comb already, it would definitely be a good investment. A few of the ladies here could recommend good wooden combs, but you may also use bone, cellulose or seamless acrylic.
As for biotin, some people find success with it and some don't. My best advice is to try it out and see what happens. I've heard that it can take 6 months for it to work.
If your hair likes oil, it's easy to do heavy oil treatments overnight and wash them out in the morning. Just be sure to wear a sleep cap when you do this.
Best of luck.
