intricate looking, fairly simple braid!
Aug 28th, 2007 at 4:49pm

Alright, I got to thinking, I can now make a two strand rope braid... what can I do with this knowledge? So I got the idea to make three rope braids, and then do a standard english braid, with said rope braids. It looks very cool, swirly, and much more complicated than it is.

As a note, my hair wasn't long enough for the rope braids to look good all the way down, so I got the idea to band it off where the rope braid started getting odd... and do three english braids, braided together. Pardon all the pokey ends.

Anyway, photos.

Quite creative, K. It's cool how you can see all of the different colours in your braid...like wood grain or something.

I'd never thought of likening it to wood grain, I've always called it tiger striped or calico(hee, I match my cat!) but in that braid, I can see where wood grain is a better term! *biggrin* thankee, I think... on my journal, I'm about to post a picture of the colors, now that the dye's grown out for just about a year. It's ... noticeable. but it looks like I've done it on purpose, rather than out of laziness, now.

Very cool! Another variation that I've done, is to make 2 two-strand ropes and then twist them together into a single rope.  Twist that around into a bun and it looks very complicated!
