is salt bad for hair?
Feb 19th, 2007 at 2:44pm

I was recently at LUSH and wanted to buy their Big Shampoo, which friends have told me is amazing for shine and volume, but I noticed that salt (sodium chloride) is a main ingredient.  Is this bad for hair?  I didn't buy it, but I plan to go back and get it unless salt is a hair no-no.  For reference, my hair is currently in good condition and just above BSL and I don't intend to grow it any longer than my waist.

Sodium chloride is used as a thickener in shampoos and conditioners.  In those products it should not be harmful to the hair.
