need ideas
Dec 6th, 2006 at 2:29pm

Hi everyone. I'm hoping you can help me come up with ideas for my wedding hairstyle. I've seen lots of great tips and ideas so far, but not quite what I'm looking for (actually I'm not sure if I even know what I'm looking for yet) here's what I do know: I have hip length hair that I think is fine (can anyone reminde me how I guage whether my hair is thin, thick, fine, etc? I know there was a little guideline page somewhere on the site) and my problem is this: I want to leave my hair down to show it off, but when I do that it very quickly becomes tangled and "messy" looking. I only need it to stay smooth for the ceremony and pictures, I'll be putting it up for the reception so I can dance. I don't normally use hair styling products, so I don't know what's normally used for this problem (some sort of flexible hold hairspray maybe?) Also, I get easily annoyed when my hair gets in my face so I'll probably be doing some sort of a half up thing so my hair is kind of gently swept back from my face. Anyone have any ideas? I can't seem to find anything I like.

Ok, my hair is a lot shorter than yours, but, if I had hair long enough I'd do a half up do with a braided bun decorated with rhinestone hair pins and a cool fancy fan comb to go above the bun.  Use Amish hairpins to secure the bun-they are light weight, come in varying lengths AND hold hair like glue!!

My favorite hairspray is called Biosilk Finishing Spray Natural HOld made by Farouk Systems, USA.  I think Target stores carry it and Ulta, too.

Good Luck & Congratulations on your upcoming nuptuals.

Yep, what Sakina said!  Grin

If you are wearing a veil, a hair comb or stick would probably not work in the little bun, but the rhinestone picks in the bun would look beautiful and they could probably be seen thru the veil.

I have thin hair as well - I've found it looks best loose when I have oiled my hair (not greasy oiled, just enough to give it some weight and help it stay together a bit).

I'm sure that however you wear your hair, it will be beautiful.

Thanks for the ideas. Um...what are amish hairpins, and where do I find them? Also, the oiling trick sounds like it would come in handy, I haven't found one I like yet, I'll keep experimenting.

You'll find Amish hairpins at www.plainlydressed.com. ; It is a plain stainless steel "U" shaped pin, not a bobby pin.
