Here are some pics I took at Longwood yesterday, the gardens and orchid show were absolutely *beautiful*!  Even though I've lived within 30 miles of Longwood for over 20 years, I've only been a few times and every time I go I am absolutely amazed at the place.

Oh, thank you!  I used to mess around with photography quite a bit a lonnnng time ago but to be perfectly honest, it's hard to take a bad picture when the subject matter is *so* incredibly breathtaking!

Now THAT is my dream back yard!

Imagine this scene at Christmas with 100,000 twinkle lights on the trees synced to music and the water gushing with colored lights at the bottom of the ponds shining upward in the spray. (Would have to heat the pipes and pump, I guess) :o

I missed my calling. I should have been rich with lots of spare time.  ::)

Beautiful pictures! I'm partial to wisterias- they're gorgeous. I'd grow them if it wasn't next to impossible this far north.

Inspiring photos, Rapunzel.  (FYI, I believe that cactus is a Century plant).

I don't believe I've ever seen an orange orchid before - WOW!

Now we need to see pics of your garden.  Grin

I believe you're right, it would take a hundred years to grow that big ;)

Orchids come in every size, shape and color imaginable. Some are even fragrant, and there's even species that small like rotting meat to attract flies for pollination :P

I'll take pics of the garden when the waterfall is done.  All the spring blooming stuff is over now anyway, so it's kinda boring out there right now.  Waiting for my peonies to burst forth, LOL!

Oh beautiful flowers! If you like that, you must see teh Brooklyn Botanic Gardens! I'm in love with flowers...
The ones in ym garden are beginning to sprout. Italins white sunflowers, moonflowers, morning glories, tea tine roses, and a mix of flowers taht attract butterflies and humming birds (but we're to far north ...so I'll wish hard for them to come Wink). Thanks for sharing those pretty pictures with us.

Wow. That must have been quite a day. The pictures are lovely and I can't imagine how much cooler and more beautiful they were in person.
