heavy sigh........
Feb 11th, 2006 at 11:39pm

I'm in a bit of shock right now, one of my budgies fell from her perch and died shorty afterward in my hand.  She broke her neck and choked on her own blood.  Cry (sorry if that was gross) She was only three years old.  Now the worry is her mate.  He has been calling for her and all.  Just a little dazed right now, god I wish this didn't happen.  I've had birds for years and this is the second to break it's neck.  Needless to say I've been cuddling bunny and hubbies been good too. Embarrassed Cry

I'm so sorry, Lisabelle.  It must be heart wrenching to hear him call for her.  I went through that with my cat, Sweetie.  Her brother died and she cried every night for weeks.
6 months after that we got the boys, and now she hisses.

(((((hugs)))))

I know nothing about birds as pets.  Is it common for a bird to break its neck?  Sorry if that's a distressing question.

(((((hugs)))))

Sakina, Juri Chan thank you so much.  I hate losing pets, it's so heart breaking.  Tomorrow were going to bury her in the yard.  I will do a little Buddhist type ritual with incense and prayers.  I really don't know if birds breaking there necks is common at all.  Still she did not suffer long Cry

... the one on the right was her, her name was Madame Butterfly.  His name is Sota  Cry

I'm sorry Lisabelle.  I had a parakeet that died last september, her name was Tweety and nearly 15 years old. One night I found her at the bottom of the cage, really weak and would fly up to her perch. The next day she was dead.

Sakina:

When my cat died, I thought my other cat was lonely so we got a kitten. Three years later and she still cant stand her.

I'm so sorry Lisabelle Cry Cry

We had love birds a few years ago, the female died and the male would keep hitting himself against the cage until he died Undecided

It's ok for you to wait a bit, and probably good for Sota too.

Egad. Sorry to hear about your bird, Lisabelle. *hugz*

My young cousins have a budgie that looks just like your Sota. Such interesting noises they make...

Your funeral arrangements for Mme. Butterfly sound beautiful. I'm sure she'll be very honoured & feel very blessed to have spent her life with such a devoted "mother."

God bless.

Lisabelle, I'm so sorry.  I raised budgies for several years.  I had one, a female, that died in my hand too.  I cried so hard--I know how much we come to love our pets.  They are gifts of God to us, aren't they! Little (or big) rays of joy in our lives.

I'm sorry about your bird... she was so cute. We lost a parakeet when he flew into a wall. Poor babies Sad. Btw we buried all our dead animals too. Even the ones who just happened to die near the house..liek a squirrel and a pigeon.
