I have set up a Yahoo group for doing live chats.  I've participated and moderated similar chats and have had a lot of fun doing them.  If any of you are interested in joining in, you first need to become a member of the group.  When requesting membership, please be sure to mention your LongLocks user name and if you have preferences for days and times to chat. 

My initial plan would be to have chats on Friday evenings starting at about 6pm CST.  I realize this would be very late for our European friends, but maybe we can find a time that will work for all of us once I can determine how many people are interested.

In your picture there, I noticed some nice stonework right in front of you and a couple of what appears to be some bird houses. I'm into building bird houses and watch to see who moves in. Do you build your own? I'll add too that it appears you've attained classic length. Very nice. Keep it up. Do you have a long term length goal or take a wait and see what it does approach?

I also wanted you to know that since you sent me that one video, I've found a chat board similar to this that has many of the largest Christmas display owners in the country and even a few from UK and Austrailia. I've become fairly active in the electronic controllers boards giving (and getting) ideas on how to build different things. The owner of the house that was taped is a member there. I should thank you again for peaking my interest in Christmas diaplays. Was actually entertaining the thought of quitting last year.

One of the things I may add is a Rapunzel in a tower. It would be a wood cut-out where lights would 'grow' her hair to the ground. Another controller being built now is a penguin throwing snowballs at a Jack-in-the-box. I have an animated pic of it but I don't see a place to add attatchments.

I've enjoyed typing at you in real time over the last few years and kind of miss it now that I bowl on Friday nights and the FLHC chats ended. Maybe we could set something up on a weeknight sometime?

maiko is such a pretty handle, btw.  It would be cool to be a young geisha!

In another thread there has been discussion regarding some bad experiences with chat rooms.  I just want to reiterate what I said in that thread.


The safeguards that I have taken for the LongLocks chat are:
1.  The Yahoo group is a private group.
2.  All members of the group must be approved by ME!
3.  I have the ability to ban a person from the chat and/or the group.
4.  I am only approving members that have participated on the LongLocks message boards, or that I have prior knowledge/experience with and know they would be a positive, contributing person.
5.  I will not allow lurkers in the chat.  (People who only read and not participate in the conversation).

I am encouraging everyone to let me know if anyone in the chat misbehaves so I can deal with it.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please let me know

6pm CST is what I am planning on - if I can, I will be there sooner.  People don't have to be there AT 6pm - if you drop in later, that would be OK too.  I plan to stay in the chat room most of the evening, so be sure to stop in! 

If anyone requests membership while I am in the chat, I will get notification of the request, but I have to exit the chat to make the approval - so it can take a few minutes, but I'll try to do it as quickly as I can.
