cute messy "bun"
Dec 28th, 2005 at 1:42pm

I got this idea from a girl I saw working at a gas station, it just looked so cute & casual on her that I had to try it for myself!  Here's the gist of it:

Comb your hair up from the back, like you're about to put it into a high ponytail on top of your head.  Use a scrunchie to tie it off, but on the last wrap, don't pull your hair all the way through.  And, instead of pulling it so that the tails are sticking out the bottom of the scrunchie, reverse it and pull so that the tails will be sticking out on top of your head.  Then, just do some adjusting by pulling on the bunned part and then the tails, I like to spread the tails so they completely surround my scrunchie, I leave it a little messy looking and just use a spritz or two of hairspray to hold it in place.  This 'do was a godsend on christmas eve, it took me all of 2 minutes to put it up like that for work in the morning, I worked like a maniac all day, went home, put some makeup on and used the same hairdo but just curled the loose ends and looked like a million bucks.  Everyone (including my husband) thought I had on one of those fake curly-hair scruchies that you put on around a bun.  It was so easy to do.  I hope these instructions make some sense!

BTW- my hair is about BSL, this probably wouldn't work too well on very long hair, I'm not sure...

I have always done that "not pulled all the way through" thing but i never thought to bring it to the top...hmmmm, maybe a few hair toys to decorate, if it's a formal party or something.

Thanks for sharing maggie Smiley

Sometimes I do something similar to that. Sounds good.
