Been a while..
Dec 10th, 2005 at 3:29pm

*waves hello to Biker Braid and Flamming bunny*

It's been a while since I was here last, and alot of growth has happened.

Here's a basic run down of what's been going on hair wise...

When I first actually started caring for my hair properly, I had hair like in the below picture.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/KaylinSilverfurr/Kaylin%20images/grave14....
June 2004

Shoulder length (+/-), multi-coloured, bleached and blow dried, straightened, curled hair. I think at that point in time I was using silicone serum religiously, even on dry hair, to help combat the frizzies. I shampooed and conditioned every day, used a paddle brush on wet hair, did nothing to tie it back at night and did not use cloth covered elastics and hair sticks were "Chopsticks" for me. (Read: Tools I scarfed my sushi with.) Split-end central.

Now?

I use Giovanni's SLS free 50:50 Balanced shampoo and the 50:50 Conditioner and their leave in conditioner. Before that it was CO only with Mane N' Tail, Tressemme or Garnier Fructis Long N' Strong and using Infusium 23 leave in.
I wash maybe about twice a week, longer if I can get away with it.
I have done away with the silicone serum (and anything else containing -cones in it), and use Coconut Oil and J/A/S/O/N Natural 98% Aloe Vera Gel, detangle with either my fingers or a wooden comb when my hair is wet, sleep with it braided, hairsticks are my friends (Save for in winter, because a hat takes priority on my head unfortunately.), henna or use Cassia Obovata rather than dye with commercially available stuff and use cloth covered elastics.
It has been a gradual process over the last (almost) two years. There were days when my hair would completely and utterly freak out and go beserk on me. Try as I might, it would not bend to my command, nor would it allow itself to be confined within my whims and desires.
Hell, it still a little on the thin-ish side, but only because I am on The Low-Dose Pill.

Today?

A day after washing...

Two braid photos, as this is how I usually keep my hair back now, espcially in the winter. My hair is roughly bra strap length now.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/KaylinSilverfurr/Hair/dechair03.jpg

Of the shine and colour.
After (almost) two years, the aweful bleach chunky/ black dye job is nearly gone, though you can still see some left over at the ends. I have been trimming my own hair now, twice within the last year. Easy as pie when you have the right scissors. Smiley I do the occassional dusting...if and when I find split ends. (they are few and far between now.)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v203/KaylinSilverfurr/Hair/dechair04.jpg

General length picture.
Yes, I realise that I have a few fly-aways. I had just gotten in the door, and it is winter after all. (Which reminds me, I desperately need to ask Santa for a humidifier for Christmas).
Oh, and the kitty posing with me is Tatum, my black and white cow kitty.

Kaylin your hair is beautiful!! Boy, what progress!  May I ask what type of henna you use?  Also, like me , you have wavy hair right?  My waves have come out so much more since finding the boards and ditching the silicones and bad products.  I'm a little afraid that henna will straighten them out, has that happened to you?
(I heard henna relaxes the curl pattern slightly)
I don't think you hair looks thin.

Hey Babyfine! *waves*
I use the Coloura Henna products actually. They're really good and they have several colours to choose from. I usually use the "Ash brown" one or the "Clear" one.
Once i get some cash, I plan to order some Cassia Obovata from http://www.hennaforhair.com

It may have pulled the curl out a bit, but it's enough where it has the lovely wave to it and not so much "boing!" curl to it now. Henna will relax the curl slightly, and if that's what you want, by all means go for it. Smiley

Hey Sakina!
Sewing is few and far between at the moment unfortunately.
University courses are keeping the majority of my time occupied at the moment. :/

Thanks to everyone else for the welcome back and comments. Smiley
