Question about Fia Rating
Sep 3rd, 2005 at 7:17pm

So after this month's measurement, I looked closer at my Fia rating because I just kind of ballparked it before.  It started out as 1bM/Cii  but my thickness is really a "iii" so I changed it.  But as far as the "M/C" goes, my hair seems to be an "M" now, with all the new haircare I'm doing.  My question is, should the rating be what your hair naturally is (without oils and butter, etc)?  Because in that case, I'd still consider it "M/C" - if I stopped buttering, I'm sure it would revert back.

Oy - good luck Khrome - my hair seems to defy classification - it's probably due to constant changing with age *creak* but actually it always was a full range of types depending on where I was temperature and humidity wise...g

I'd probably go with the condition of your hair now.  Although I guess one of the good things about the fia rating is to find someone with similar hair and see what works for them, so in that case I'd stick with the original.  Maybe a from "M/C" to "M" type rating?

Good points, Gabi and Valerie, thanks.  It makes a lot of sense to keep it the old way.  And if people ask, I can tell them how it has fluctuated.

Oh noes, Gabi is creaking!  Someone bust out the joint oil.  I could use some too.  My knees creak and it makes people cringe.  lol

Hey - when it comes to creaking, I probably win the contest.  My joints all snap, crackle and pop, especially in the morning (which hubby complains about, because it wakes him up!).  If someone can find a "joint oil" that works - send me a case!

The bizarre thing is that... how your PALMS feel will affect how your hair feels. Sometimes if my palms are properly moisturized after applying shea butter cream, my hair will feel softer and less coarse (not because I applied butter to my hair) but because my palms are soft. I know it's pretty obvious, but it's something I learned only recently and thought to share.

Good observation!  I haven't noticed it before, but now that you mention it it's true for me too.

Ok, I know I should know this, but I'm asking anyway. I can't find the FIA rating and don't remember it all. Could someone give me a refresher?
