camping curls
Aug 20th, 2005 at 2:42pm

This is what my hair looked like after taking it down from 3 days of a french classic tucked under.  When I was putting it in, I mixed up some gel of aloe, jojoba oil, and the slightest bit of honey.  I only used that a couple times, when I realized that it was not a good idea to go to bed at night with my hair smelling like food.  Next time I'll try it without the honey.   Roll Eyes  The staying power of the curls though I'm sure was helped by the fact that every morning I would wet down my hair, and the bandana I wore, and let that dry throughout the day.  I wish I had gotten a picture of my hair up.  It had a bunch of wispies by the end of the trip, but it stayed up better than I expected.

...

The fun part of watching my color grow out is to see the natural shape my hair grows in.  I've been really wanting to try out a V shaped cut, but I think it will make the ends of my braids too thin.

Don't you just love braid curls??  Yours are beautiful.

I agree that skipping the honey might be prudent when camping in the wilderness - don't want to encourage the critters, big or small, to join you at night!

My tattoo is the outline of a goddess with a celtic owl and humpback whale on the sides.  Whales have always been my totem animals, and owls are my husbands.  I got the idea from necklaces we bought years ago and finally had it done last October.  I still need to get the animals colored in, but can't decide how to do them.  Below is the full picture, I can't seem to get a smaller version of it--sorry!

Those braid curls are fantastic, and I wouldn''t cut out the old color. I think it really cool.  8) Thanks for sharing both the hair pix and the tattoo.

Valerie you have lovley hair!  I reminds me of a Medieval princess!  I love your Tat, I can't wait to see it finished. I think filling in the animals with blue ink would be nice!  Besides, black ink turnes blue anyway and my Tats are over 10 years old and were black and now are blue! Roll Eyes

Valerie,

Gorgeous.. just... gorgeous.  *totally jealous*  My hair would have been a complete frizz ball after three days.. *giggles*  Lucky girl....  Wink

So the honey may not have been a camping idea... but maybe for some regular at home stuff?

As for the tat... again, gorgeous!  Coloring the animals will only enhance the "wow" affect.  (which it already has a ton of!  WOW!!  Grin) I have a tiny cat paw print on right ankle.  (Cats are my totem animal, so I figured I'd share.  Wink)

Thanks for the update on your tattoo, Valerie.  I think it is very cool and unique.  I have one tattoo that is not colored and one that is.  I couldn't decide what color to make my dragon so it is just the outline and shading.

Strange question, but is the paw print from one of your animals, or a premade drawing?  I'm trying to get stamps made of each of my animals paws, and it is really difficult to get a good print to send to the stamp maker.

AMAZING curls!!  Shocked  That tattoo is great the way it curls over your tailbone.  The clouds remind me of Chinese embroidery/artwork.
