Beer Rinse
Aug 17th, 2005 at 10:17am

I did a beer rinse last night.  My hair is shiny, soft and the leftover curls from the perm (bad, bad, I know) came out nicely again. It doesn't smell like beer neither.

{Rinse hair with beer to add body and shine!

The vitamin B and natural
sugar add body and shine.

Simple Beer Rinse

Once a month use a can of flat beer after shampooing.  Choose a beer that does not have a  strong odor.  Shampoo and rinse hair as usual.  Pour the flat warm beer on your hair and work it through.   Rinse with lukewarm, not hot, water. }

I've heard of the beer rinse before.  I've never tried it myself (can't stand the smell of beer).

I remember back when I was in Junior High, a girl was caught with a can of beer in her locker.  She claimed it was so she could do a beer rinse of her hair after gym class.   The school officials didn't believe her and suspended her from school for a week.  I think the "problem" with her reasoning was the fact the beer was on ice in a cooler!  Grin

That's a good one! Maybe she needed a "cool head" Grin

Well, do you like wine? Maybe we should try to find out what wine can do for hair?  Roll Eyes

I'd love to try THAT one. It sounds really easy. Grin What's a "flat" beer? And when you say "can" you mean the small/normal size or the big one? I somehow think that 330ml of the normal can won't be enough??

A "flat" beer is one that has been sitting open to the point where it doesn't have bubbles anymore.  I'm not sure how long it would take for a beer to go flat.  Maybe overnight?

LOL that's pretty funny BB.   Cheesy

Creek_lady: Yes, it is very easy! I opened a bottle of beer and let it sit overnight. Maybe a fresh one would be interesting too....if it still bubbles on the head?    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Free scalp massage with bubbly beer  Roll Eyes

Smiley I just found the following on this website

http://www.hintsandthings.co.uk/bathroom/hairtips.htm

Out of hair setting products, try:-
•      Use a solution of sugar and water on hair to create a sculptured look.  Beware of wasps though!!!!
•      Beer - this gives body, especially is flat beer is applied to damp hair.
•      Champagne - gives definition
•      Tonic water or red wine - FOR DARK hair
•      White wine - FOR BLONDE hair.
•      To create curly styles, wind sections of hair around a scrunched up tissue and then knot the ends of the tissue together.  When dry, unwind - hey presto!
Or, alternatively, drink the alcohol an let your hair flop.
Roll Eyes Might just say, let if flop - party time  Grin

"Flat beer"??!! mmmm, now I really want my hair to look nice, but it sounds to me like a waste of beer. Ok, so I'd have to resist temptation while waiting for the beer to go flat.  Cheesy Needless to say beer should *never*, *ever* go flat.  Grin

As for wine, I wish I was blonde, because red wine doesn't stand a chance to be put into my hair. Ok, ok, maybe MadDog 20-20, but no wine over 8 bucks and that has an honest to goodness cork!  Grin

LOL!  In my house, there would never be any red or white wine leftover to rinse my hair with.  As for the MD 20/20 - I have a bottle left over from our 20th wedding anniversary that my in-laws gave us (we hope it was a joke!)  I never thought about using it as a rinse.  Grin

Well aside from (and I hope I don't offend anyone) "Purple Jesus" parties, I don't know what else MD-20/20 might be good for?!  ???

Our favorite use for MD 20/20 is as a gift.  I think we've given the bottle away at least 20 times in the past 11 years.......for some reason we keep getting it back - as a gift! Grin

Moonchild--Thanks for sharing!

NR--What the heck is a "Purple Jesus" party? I don't get out too much so I've never heard of that before.

Ok, so I'm off-topic again. Sorry, BB. I guess it's my nature.  Cheesy

Juri, when I was in college (I attended a Catholic university), we had "Purple Jesus" parties. This amounted to a group of folks getting together. Everyone had to bring either grape juice (purple) or some wine (read an allusion to the wine served at Catholic masses) or a white alcohol. All these contributions would then be mixed in a large vessel, usually a clean garbage can (lined, of course). This was the "punch" for the party. Thus with the grape juice or wine, and the seminarians invited, we granted the punch and the party the name.

And let me tell you...the next morning we were asking the Lord's forgiveness!  Wink
