Unsafe Products
Aug 6th, 2005 at 7:07pm

Hey everyone, Smiley

I haven't been on this board that long so I am not sure if anyone here has checked out ewg.org.  It rates the safety of products and ingredients on all cosmetic items including conditioner, shampoo, and styling products.

It also lists the ten unsafest conditioners which you can see here http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep/bestworst.php?ewg_cat=Conditioner

And if you go here, there is a searchable product guide where you can check the safety of other cosmetic products including more hair stuff
http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep/browse_products.php

Has anyone here seen this website before?  It seems kind of scary to me  Shocked.  And if you have, what do you think about what they have to say?  Do you think they are exaggerating?  I don't know that much myself about ingredients.  Everything I know I learned from all of you guys here  Smiley

Thanks for any input  8)

No, I have never seen this site before.  It's very interesting - I wish my shampoo and conditioner is listed there.  I'm very curious how they'd place.

Thanks for sharing the links!

Those are very cool links - thanks!

As to exaggerating - *shrug* I think it has to be put in perspective - they are telling you (I only quick skimmed) what is a potential problem and what can possibly happen, theoretically  Roll Eyes.

Sure - IMO, it's better to go with the safest and I think some people will react to some things more dramatically.

Mostly, it's good to be informed from several angles and make your choices ...g

I don't use the Aussie Three Minute Miracle "Original."  I use the other one, "New and Improved" formula.  I think a few others use it, too.  Let's hope that it isn't a problem, I like that stuff.

Really interesting site, by the way.  Sounds helpful.  I heard good things about Kerastase, too.

Darn! I used that leave in tonic for 4 years! Plus, I checked the sunblock section and my sunblock (which I use evryday) was very high in toxicity (neutrogena dry touch sunblock). How ironic is that? Its approve dby the skin cancer society and yet it can cause skin cancer...I had a feeling thought...sigh

Another unsafe product that I can't use is the old Sauve.  I can use the new ande improved Sauve but not the old version.  The old version leaves my hair feeling rough, fragile, brittle, and breaking.
