Practical art!
Aug 3rd, 2005 at 11:35am

As I was taking pictures for sock thread, I realized that I could take a few pictures of my another practical artwork. This is our key cupboard. Early this year I bought a plain, unfinished key cupboard from a local hobby store. After a paint job, it ended up being something quite original.

The door: four elements, Tree of Life, ouroboros snake...it's all in there!

I truly like the cupboard. Were the images done free-hand or did you use a template? You've got me thinking that a fun project might be adding guardians and little critters inside my cupboard doors.

I love it!   Cheesy  Especially the little details - like the corners, the repeating pattern on the sides (yet each side is different from each other), and the little touches on the inside.

Thanks everyone!  Cheesy

I've made everything free hand. I found inspiration from ornaments of medieval manuscripts- most of my motifs for this project are from there. It was a lot of work- Scandinavian minimalism is so not me- but I loved making it.

NaturalRogue, I plan too that if I get a chance and it suits the atmosphere of our next house, I am going to paint some decorations around. I love painting little critters...

Galadriel!!!!

I love this.  I'm pre pumped because I do love to do this kind of thing myself.

The critters, especially the dragon - he's is a hoot.

I do love pattern too.

Galadriel, it really is quite beautiful.

But, am I the only one here who looked at it and thought: "Hmmm, with a little modification, that would make a great hair toys cupboard...."
