Henna 'n' Placenta
Jul 29th, 2005 at 1:43am

I bought a packet of this stuff tonight, and I was wondering how each of you ladies use it. I won't be able to use it until Saturday, because tomorrow I am going in for a big trim before I start college!!  Grin

So what are your usual routines with Henna 'n' Placenta?

I've never tried it so I can't help you there. But what's in that stuff? I've heard of Henna 'n' Placenta before, but the name always makes me think "Henna and what?"

The package says:
CONTAINS: purified water, acetamide MEA, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth-20, cetyl alcohol, soluble collagen, propylene glycol, isostearyl ethylimidonium ethosulfate, henna extract, placenta extract, hexylene glycol, citric acid, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance, glycerine, phosphoric acid.

Shoo, thats alot of big words to type.

It also says, "Placenta extract, derived from animal placenta is combined with amino proteins to revitalize and protect every hair type."

When I use my Henna n Placenta, I just wash my hair as I normally would, apply the stuff lavishly and cover with a shower cap while going about my shower duties.
It seems to work nicely and it makes my hair extra shiny and bouncy.

Sara- I know what you mean...I was weirded out at first, I somehow find it less weird now. Especially that I know it works soooo well.

MillieBelle- I remember one time that I covered my hair in saran wrap and used my blowdryer on it for a minute or two...Though I cant remember if it worked any better than a shower cap. I don't think so, but you could try it out.

Atlantis, I got a bunch of those plastic shower caps like they use at salons from Sally's for $1.99 and they work wonders. I think you get 40 for that price. I am not good with Saran wrap, I always get ticked off at it and wind up throwing it across the kitchen! lol

I really don't think there is anything to be grossed out by...As with most shampoos or conditioners boasting things like sea kelp, milk protien and 'vitamins' or things of that nature, I can only imagine that they would be in such small amounts that I doubt they do much for ones hair. Just a thought, I am probably wrong. But there is really nothing to worry about, afterall it works nicely and smells pretty good too.  Wink

My husband tells EVERYONE that I use placenta in my hair (although I haven't used it in months).  He uses it as a sign that I would put anything in my hair if someone said it would be good for it.   Roll Eyes  The texture is a bit ishy if you focus on it too much, but the contents are white, so it really isn't any stranger than the olive oil, honey and egg goop I use.

My SIL had to buy new shampoo when she was watching our house, because my shampoo is a protein and placenta and she couldn't bear the idea of using it.

I'm gonna try it tonight, as a deep conditoner with heat for about 15 minutes, and see what happens. I'll post my results a little bit later.  Wink
