Looks like you've got a great hairstick there! I like sticks with corkscrews or waves in them - they hold my hair better. Did you sand the stick after you whittled it? Is it smooth going both into and out of the hair?

A neat wooden bead on the end would look really nice, if you wanted to embelish it but still stay with the natural look.

I'm envious - I don't think I could whittle a stick that nice. But then, hubby doesn't like me to play with sharp objects anyway. Grin

What I did was first peel the bark off the branch and let it dry for about a week or two. Then I sanded it with a drywall block alternating with a very heavy grit nail file. I use a swiss army knife to make the pointed end. I sanded and sanded it it was smooth and kept checking it in my hair for snags. Once it was just right I rubbed it with tung oil and let dry. My hubby was worried too! Grin

I will look through my jelwery box and see what I can come up for the top. Roll Eyes
