Star Wars Episode 3
May 25th, 2005 at 1:37am

I'm starting this topic here as a continuation from the Personal Journals

I know several of us have already seen the latest Star Wars  movie, as well as probably all the other episodes.  The long hair styles are naturally of particular interest.  What did you think of Padme's hair this episode?  How does it compare to previous movies?

I felt the styles in this episode were not as "fancy" as previous movies, but more realistic.  I had noticed that Padme's braid was almost tailbone length early in the movie, but later in the movie her hair was much shorter when worn mostly loose.  (I have a thing for finding inconsistencies in movies   Lips Sealed)

I must admit that I was a bit disappointed to hairstyles. So far, I've liked Episode II and original trilogy hairstyles best- there are some styles that could be made at home yet they would look very creative. In my opinion, there are already thousands of movies portraying more realistic hairstyles- no need for SW to start following that trend.

The only style in Ep III that I really liked was the one that looked like double low buns combined into a braid. That's something I will try right when my hair grows a little.  Grin

Maybe Padmé likes wigs? Or maybe her hair is so curly that it looks shorter when worn loose  Tongue

maybe she braided false hair into her braid to make it longer?

unless she has incredibly curly hair ...
to be honest i've been trying since childhood to stay awake throughout a whole SW movie and failed until now. they were showing on french tv all episodes to prepare people for the new episode i suppose. i noticed some great hair, seemed to awake at the good hair moments, crashed during the endlessly boring fight scenes  Grin

but i keep having serious problems with princess leia do's ... i think i dislike in general styles that divide the hair vertically in two.  and i wonder how you even pin a bun onto your ears!!??

Princess Leia's hair was extensions- the actor's hair isn't nearly long enough, as Leia is supposed to have knee length hair.

But, it is possible to pin hair near ears. I've tried that  Roll Eyes and it came out just fine- cute microscopic versions of Leia style. In movies, Leia uses bun nets- that's where the extremely neat look comes from.

The trick to this ear thingy is to have rather prominent ears  Grin.   This was actually a common style when I was growing up in Germany called "Schnecken" i.e., snails.  the pinning is all in back and on top  Roll Eyes ...g

I haven't seen Episode 3 yet.
I've only seen the first one of the new installments- but I like Natilie Portman's hair in it.
I liked Princess Leia's hair in the first 3 installments
(70's and 80's) especially the Empire Strikes back and the last one, when she has it all loose at  the end of the movie.

mkay, i saw the third episode just today (ok, technically the sixth), and her hair is loose when they're with those teddy bears, i'd call it tailbone to the max!  Tongue

I haven't seen the movie for a while. My recollection about knee length hair was from Star Wars books.

I finally went to see Epsiode 3.  I thought her hair looked very nice and was thrilled to see her do the Leia buns.  Her hair at the end was so nice, she looked like an angel Cry

Natalie Portman had naturally curly hair. i woudl sya if she blowe dit out, it wqould be midback length. And I do remember the braid she wore when she went to look for Anakin towards teh end of the movie. That was defintaely extentions. Lol. Seeing as how this is a futuristic movie and another galaxy...they may have found easy ways of adding false hair easily and quickly.

The hair and Padme's costumes were really gorgeous.  Hubby and I have spent endless hours making  fun of the plot and acting.  I think Natalie Portman's real is goreous as well.
