Meet Me, Meet My Hair!
Apr 27th, 2005 at 6:56pm

Hi ladies!  Thought I'd better give a quick intro, about my hair that is, since that's what you/we're probably most interested in.  Smiley

My Hair:

I've not officially measured it, but when it's hanging flat it seems to be about tailbone length, at its longest point...it hangs in a sort of V-shape, and the V touches my tailbone.  The edges are shorter.

Color: Dark brown

Texture: Fine

Appearance: Slightly wavy

Bangs: Soft wispyish bangs framing my face/chin/neck

I haven't trimmed the ends in a few years, because every time I trimmed, my hair seemed NEVER to grow back!  So I vowed never to trim again, at least until my hair gets SUPER SUPER long.  Now I'm finally at tailbone length, though my two sisters have hair that seems to grow like weeds!!!!! And they don't do anything to it!!! They usually cut it shoulder length in the summer and it comes back soooooooo fast.......  Cry

No, I'm not really jealous...it's been a struggle, but I have learned to love my hair.  I have learned A LOT from this board and have found some great tricks to help my fine hair appear thicker and more manageable.  Maybe I can share what has worked for me another time. Or maybe I can start a journal. I guess this is a long enough introduction so I'd better go!

Welcome!
Glad you've already learned alot about growing/keeping long hair.

I noticed your avatar says you love Irish step dance.  Do you dance?  How do you wear your hair, when you do?

When I'm Irish step dancing I wear my hair long and flowing----in a little poof clipped at the top of my head with my bangs flowing out around my face, and the sides loosely pulled back and held with a barrette sort of low, near my neck. It just seems essential to have a long mane of hair bouncing around behind you when you are executing this type of dance.  Maybe it is because it is such a feminine, graceful sort of thing...or maybe it is because NO sort of updo could withstand it anyway!!  Grin  It is quite strenouous, quite a lot of vigorous jumping around.  But totally worth it.  I love to watch the reflection of my long hair "dancing" along with my legs and feet.

Actually, I NEVER wear my long hair up--I've waited so long for it to grow that I want to enjoy it at every moment down.  Pulling weeds in the garden, mowing the grass, vacuuming, you name it--it's always down!

BTW--I'm not a professional performer, just a dedicated devotee. Smiley

oooo - I agree - the dance looks best with hair down.  I used to know a gal that did Irish dance.  She would always have her hair curled into ringlet type curls for her performances.  I loved to watch the curls bounce.  I was envious of her hair and her dancing.  I've not been able to do any dance since I was 12 due to problems with my knees.  (You always want what you can't have :/ )
