Went for the Chop!
Mar 16th, 2005 at 12:46pm

Well, I've done it.  I finally plucked up my courage to go for the chop.  Didn't get quite enough courage to go for the full blown pixie cut I was going to go for - but I'm now shoulder-length.  Just long enough to tie it back in a ponytail.  See, problem was, whilst I was growing my hair, I wasn't getting it trimmed - I had rats tails.  Not attractive,as I think most of you'll agree...  So now I have medium length hair, rather than long.  At least it'll be a lot eaiser to maintain, and as a student - cheaper!!

What's important is that you did what you wanted!
Since this is a long-hair-lovers' board maybe we won't agree all that much Undecided, but this is neither here nor there. The important thing is that you did what makes you feel good  Smiley
Besides, getting rid of "rat ends" as you called it, is a good starting point for growing out long hair, should you ever wish to do that again!   Wink
Congrats on your new 'do. Enjoy it  Smiley

Yep, Greek_lady says it all.  Doing what makes YOU feel good is what is important.

Plus, you are now at a great starting point for growing it long again!  Grin

if it was looking ratty, i don't think it was a bad choice to chop it off to be honest. you could try to regrow but trimming OFTEN but just small quantities. it's far less traumatizing and way more rewarding in the end. there's just no point in having "ugly" long hair.  Undecided

try to trim yourself, only you should decide what is really necessary to cut for keeping it neat looking Wink

Glad you like your new length.  Grin  You'll probably like it a lot better in the long run than that pixie cut you were contemplating -- you're right, they get expensive to maintain 'cuz you've got to cut every 4-6 weeks to keep them looking good (that's what I started from a year and a half ago)
