How to avoid a part in long hair?

Hello,
This has been happening to me for years, ever since my hair started growing long. I finally got the idea to post here and see if anyone could advise me!

I do NOT part my hair before I go to bed--I flip my head upside down and gather all hair onto the top of my head, secure it with a clip, braid it in a single braid, and wind that around the clip. There is absolutely no part, but when I take it down in the morning and style it (same way everyday--half up half down) it develops an odd part on the right side of my head, totally off center, which extends all the way down to my neck. As a result the two sides separate and it looks like I have parted it top to bottom on purpose and have two sections of hair hanging down my back! I want it to hang "all in one piece", if you know what I mean...

I sleep flat on my back, all night, every night, so I don't think it is caused by undue pressure on any one side....after all, it is all gathered up on top of my head.

If anyone can help I'd be so grateful!!! But then life (including hair) is never perfect!

When I didn't have bangs my hair would part right down the middle no matter what I did making me look like I stepped right out of the 70s. Having bangs helps hide the "genetic" part.

Don't think I can help, only sympathize. My partner had a part dead center on his head, even when he buzzed his hair to 1/2 inch he still had this very obvious part. A stylist finally managed to get rid of it by thinning out the hair on top and doing a new style. Probably not something you would want to try. Good luck though.

You must just have a natural part there. I have a natural center part and my hair always manages to part itself right down the center. Sad

I brush it straight back but it still ends up parting in the center. Undecided

I think the suggestion about the clips is a good idea, I have bobby pinned mine at night to keep it in place but sometimes the bobby pins will slip out. Tongue

Well, I experimented with a CLIP and it works!!!!!! At last!!!!!!!!!!!!

I figured out a way to gather the hair behind my ears (at the back of my head), twist it, pin a clip where the twist is, and then flip the length over the clip so that it looks like it cascades down my back without anything holding it there!! And wonder of wonders, it HIDES THE PART!!! This style meshes great with the visible clip on the top front of my head that holds up my sides, making the whole hairdo look nice and flowing.

I never could just simply clip it back or wear a ponytail or bun before because the part would ALWAYS show through somehow! But the twist-and-clip-cascade thing really works!!!

i put my hair in a ponytail almost everyday and when i take it out plop it parts right dead center/i've parted it on the side before but it still ends up in the center in the morning(its annoying too{hey i rhymed Cheesy

})
