Need help growing long hair

I would like my hair long again, I had long hair when i was a kid, my parents had to cut it all off due to little bugs. Tons of them. I tried to let my hair grow since then but it stayed a t a stopping point for a long time. S a few months ago i got tired of it not wanting to grow, i cut it to my below my neck, I have natural wavy kinda curly hair. I need tips on how and where to start again, what supplements can i take to help it grow faster, i use biolage shamppo dehydrator. I have oily scalp and thick hair. It is frizzy too. Any help would be appreciated

Hi and nice to meet you! I'm also a hair grower- currently going a little below shoulderblades, but I started from bald.

My advice is, that if your hair damages easily like mine, ½ inch (1 cm) every three months is enough. Split ends and broken hairs you can check and cut away yourself hair by hair in between visits. If your hair doesn't damage, many people here have great-looking hair with even less trimming.

I recommend, that you stay away from hair salons, unless you have a stylist that you trust absolutely to trim no more than you tell him to, and who knows how to handle your hair gently. A friend or family member is much better option, and later you can cut your hair yourself.

Try misting your hair and scalp with rosewater to reduce frizziness.

So since i cut it Ihave been starting over with a pick.

How long did it stay at that length (when you say it stopped growing)? It is not uncommon for hair to "rest" for a period of time. Minimal growth is experienced during a resting phase. Resting is not real common with hair shorter than BSL, but I have heard of people experiencing it. The resting period can last a few months before significant growth is noticed.

I think my hair has gone through 2 resting stages - once between BSL and waist, and another at hip length. Both times, I had almost no growth for about 3 months.

Can anyone recommend a good book my husband can use to shape my hair (which has been growing out with no trim for 5 years) and later, just to trim the ends? I've given up on hairdressers, I don't trust them. Also, I'd like a book with information on rag curls, spit curls, and braids to put wave in hair (and comb out later).
