New Year's Resolutions
Jan 1st, 2005 at 2:02pm

I thought it might be interesting to see if anyone wants to post any of their new year's resolutions, hair related and other.

I'm terrible at making them, worse at keeping them so I'll make a feeble start:
1) Continue to be kind to my hair.
2)Drink more water.
3) Exercise more.  (This will actually be easy because if I move at all, it will be more.)  LOL
4) Try to be less cynical.  Positive thoughts and words must be good for hair growth! It works for plants.
5) And try to be more kind.

Anyone else?

Those are some good resolutions! I especially like #3...it's definately one I can relate to.

After the baby is born, I would like to get to a decent weight. (Ah, yes...the weight battle continues!) I was 10 stone when I first was married, but then quickly put on a stone. I don't even wanna KNOW what I am now...nor do I intend to find out till after June (What's the point? I'm having too much fun enjoying the freedom now! Wink). But after Baby is born, I'm gonna pull myself together. My goal is to be 11 stone by next New Years.

Until then, I will focus my energies on Baby and Hair Growth.  Wink

My New Year's resolutions this year:

1) To be closer to my love. There are so many miles between us right now and I want to fix that, at least with a visit.
2)To get back in shape. Last year I was doing really good about eating better and exercising more and people said it showed. I'd like to get back on track with that.
3) To stop putting things off. There are things I want or need to do but I just haven't gotten around to. I want to get moving this year and actually get things done.
4) To take better care of my hair and learn to do more with it.

My only resolution is to lose 12 pounds in 12 months.  I figure a pound a month I can handle, and this will keep me working on my healthier lifestyle of eating right and exercising.

I am taking this time to evaluate new beginnings.  I've spent a good amount of time making pretty spreadsheets of our budget, money goals, and net worth and this year will track all spending and income and also pay off a good chunk of debt.
I want to continue to call my grandma once a week or more, and get back into regular dog training w/ all 3 of my critters.   Oooh, and I think that I will make it my goal to master a crown braid and a 5 strand braid by the end of the year.   Grin

Rua--I love the new terminology 'stone.'  I had to ask what it meant, but now maybe I'll use that as my weight meausurement.

LOL! I like that terminology too. It makes me feel less heavy! A stone out here is equivalent to 14lbs. So now you can say to your friends, "I'm planning to lose nearly a stone this year."  Cheesy

This is so cool.
At a little under 11 stones, I'd like to lose 2 stones but I'd be happy with 1.

I love this, Rua!

both my hair and my whole body.

To be more organized.

Isn't it funny how nearly all of us want to lose weight or exercise more?

My resolutions are:
Lose weight (now there's a surprise! Smiley)
Be more spiritual, I've lost my connection with the Feminine Divine and need to rekindle the bond.
           Be more assertive.
Meet, marry and have Kevin Spacey's baby.

My only real resolution was to learn to self-braid my hair by practicing daily.

Today I actually got a complement on my braid from, of all people, my mother  Grin.

I haven't really made a resolution, but I think my goal/resolution really is to grow my hair out and learn various techniques to put it up so it looks good all day.

Gollan - Amazing how we all still want our mother's approval Wink I'm hoping to hear my mother say how she likes my hair too, but it's still at that awkward stage so none of the braids or other styles really look well-done yet.
Thanks for the reminder to be more positive with my sons Smiley

After nearly 30 some-odd years of making resolutions I decided to make some I have an outside chance of keeping (and that definately rules out diet and exercise).  My first is to remember all friends' and family members' b-days with a card atleast if not a little more and my second is to make a little me time without feeling guilty about it.  So far I am two for two on remembering people's b-days and actually getting stuff in the mail.  For my second resolution I signed up for a beginning jewelry making class and had my first class tonight.  I spent most of the time wandering around the store trying to figure out what to make and what looked good with what.  I thought alot about Susan and how artistic she is in putting beads together.  Nothing I put together really seemed right but I remind myself I have only just begun and it was nice to have 2 1/2 hours of adult time.

I have an idea for your beading class....

My sister has been making me a pair of earrings to match every pair of hairsticks I've purchased from Susan!  (of course, now I need a bigger earring box!)It's so amazing that you can find very similar - though generally not the same quality as the beads from her hair sticks - and they really "dress up" the look when I'm not at work.  As a nurse, I stick with the tiny silver dot studs for work - but for church and other outings - it's fun to have the matching sets.

And thanks for the realistic new-year resolution idea!  I think I'll 'borrow' it from you.  Sending relatives occasional cards for the year - on time - is a great goal!  For the past two years I haven't even been sending birthday cards! shame on me!   Thanks! Cheesy
