VO5 ?
Nov 28th, 2004 at 9:56am

I keep seeing VO5 mentioned here.  Is it a superior product?  What are the ingredients we are looking for here?

VO5 is inexpensive here, but I have never tried it.  I have been using Suave and Clairol Daily Defense, just out of habit.

Any suggestions?  I have fine but thick dark hair with auburn highlights.

I've tried VO5 over the years. It's ok...not overly great but not bad either.

They come out with this silk protein conditioner recently that I decided to have a go with, and I hated the smell. You had to use a ton of it to get any coverage on your head.

However in the past, my mum used to buy the VO5 hot oil treatments and they were pretty good. (Only, you can do home hot oil treatments customised to you for much less cost!)

I don't think I'm much help! Ever since the last VO5 conditioner I bought, the smell really turned me off it and I haven't bought anything by them since.  Sad

VO5 makes a lot of different products. Some of them are great, others are useless.

I like Free Me Freesia and Hydrators as conditioners for CO wash. Kiwi Lime makes my scalp break out. Some others I've tried leave my hair feeling greasy, dry, or amazingly, both greasy and dry.

I have to agree with Rua in saying that VO5's an "OK" product - good for the money.  But I will say that my last shampoo/cond. purchase was VO5's Nourishing Oasis line, and I'm pretty impressed with it so far...I would actually go so far as to say that I like it...and again, the price is extremely fair.  So, if you are thinking about trying anything from VO5, that would be my recommendation...there's my 2 cents!

I use VO5 hot oil treatments from time to time and love
them.  I also like VO5 Kiwi Lime conditioner, I use it regularly for CO.
But I used VO5  Nourishing OASIS Engergize And Volumize and absolutly HATED it!  It made my hair look
all dryed out and frizzy.  My husband doesn't like it either.   So I guess we will to find someone to give it away to.

I bought a bottle of the VO5 Extra Body Shampoo and Extra Body Conditioner.  So far, I like it.

I would love to try the Kiwi Shampoo, but even when I eat kiwi fruit I get numb around my mouth.  I was told I was allergic to it, so I better not wash my hair  in it!  Right?

Thanks for all the help for my hair!

That's so funny. If I eat too many kiwis, I get tingly and numb around my mouth too. (I still eat them though. I love em! I have to limit myself to only 1 or 2 a day max.)

I don't know if that would affect your hair or not. Usually the stuff they use in shampoos is so far gone and synthetic compared to the real thing, you wouldn't have too much to worry about. Then again, I wouldn't want you to get a numb scalp either.

I'm at a loss!  ??? ??? ??? ???
