Pictures of my hair...
Nov 28th, 2004 at 1:07am

I finally have a page devoted to hair pictures!  Here you go!

http://www.thehealthyhomeschool.com/longhair.html

Let me know what you think!  I hope to get some better pictures.  I didn't realize it was so tricky to take hair pictures!

wow!! gorgeous hair!!!
tell us about those great updo's ... i am especially interested in the half updo with the coiled strands ... it's difficult to see how they were attached on the back of your head. did you do some strange figures in them or do they do that on their own ... or am i seeing things that aren't there?

Thank you!   Kiss

As far as the updo's, I do fairly loose coils, and I use large bobby pins to attach the hair.  The bobby pins are not visible, but the hair clips or combs I use for decoration are.

The coils can end up taking weird shapes on their own as I twist the hair, but I just let them do what they want to.  The hair I let hang down from the coil, it hangs down from underneath at the bottom of the "bun."  Does that even make sense?   ???

I sort of let my hair tell me how it wants to go up!   Grin  It seems to be heading in one direction or another when I get up in the mornings.  I just go with the flow.

You make me feel so good!!   Thank you.  I think the shine comes from my Scottish roots, ah no pun intended!   Grin

I have always just used Suave or Daily Defense--whatever I can afford.  I wash my hair about every day or every other day, but I am trying to make sure it is only every other day now.  I think my hair has always stayed healthy because I keep it up so much.

You know, what makes me so sick with myself is that it was to my knees in 1998!!  I had it cut up above my waist...   Cry  It was right after having a baby, and I think it was more hormones than anything.  I was having headaches some, attributed it to all the hair, but it could have been fatigue and postpartum hormones.  I felt I could do nothing with it except wear it the very same way--a huge bun at the back, day after day.  Now I wish I had been more creative about putting it up and just kept it!

It'll grow back though, right?

of course it will!!!
to the knees ... my my, i would have cut it to mid-tigh, less traumatic and a very nice length.

btw, since you were a knee-lengther: at what length did you feel you were forced to wear it up most of the time cuze it was becoming a "burden" (sorry bikerbraid)?  my bf thinks it's silly to grow hair to a length your forced to wear it up instead of showing it's full beauty. not untrue i'd say.

No need to be sorry - I was being facetious  when I made that comment.   8)

Well, I have always pretty much worn my hair up, even when it was shoulder length and just growing out.  I absolutely loved finding new ways to put it up.  French twist, bun, french braids--crown braid, each side, etc.  However, I would say about hip length it got really hard for me to do anything with it except put it up at the nape of my neck in a huge bun!  It was pretty, because I would twist the hair, starting from the front and going to the back of my head.  (I can see I am going to have to dig out a picture of this!!)

I remember how I felt.  I felt old and frumpy and like my hair was everywhere.  I loved having long hair, but it had gotten too long to braid--it would knot up, even trying to separate the strands as I went.  It was so heavy that I had no body or lift on top of my head, but like I said, I wish I had been more creative!  I may get to about hip length and feel I have reached my "tolerance" again, but I really miss the "oooohhhh" of having hair that long!

it's so weird. back in uni there were two girls with classic length in the science department (relativaly small department since i went to a tiny university in tiny brussels in tiny little belgium). i saw none of them ever wear their hair up or even tied ... NEVER, they always let it totally free and never seemed even slightly annoyed by it. i even ended up with one of them in the chemistry lab for a year and she didn't even put it in a ponytail to do her practical work. it seemed to stay nicely behind her (i hope mine will do that too at some point grrr).

What gorgeous pictures, Lynn!  Our hair seems to be about the same length, though I, unfortunatly, have never achieved anything longer than waist length... yet!  *smiles*

My favorite way to wear my hair up is either in the "Victorian" style in the style gallery, or, like Lynn, in a bun at the nape of my neck.   The only problem is there are some rather naughty boys (college boys, mind you) that love to pull my hairsticks out while I'm sitting in class.     Tongue

As for my studies, I need to keep my hair out of my face while attempting to conjugate German verbs.. *grins*
