GROUP HUG!!
Aug 26th, 2004 at 5:06pm

Hi Everybody

For my 251st post I wanted to send out a huge THANK YOU to everybody on Longlocks for making long hair possible for me... because during my lurking months, I was a hair-pulling trich-ster with scalp showing! Longlocks really helped me get through it with the kind of hardcore motivation and support we have here. Y'all made me want long hair bad enough that I made a conscious effort to stop pulling. and I've been pull-free for months!

I LOVE YOU ALL!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Grin

At first I was kinda embarrassed to do a "shout-out" like that about my trich... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes but now that I think about it, there's nothing to be embarrassed about because everyone here is so open. Years ago I never thought I'd benefit from a "support board"... it sounded so therapy-related. Now I understand the goodness of it... YAY LoNgLoCKS and the wonderful community  Grin Grin Grin Thanks everybody!

Anais;
I congratulate you for being brave enough to admit your problem and again for overcoming it.

On-line support groups have the beauty of anonymity as well as closeness.  We get to know each other, but yet we don't have to see each other face to face.  That seems to give some comfort to people and allow them to open up.

We are here for you!  ((hugs))

I understand what you are saying. I was a hair puller for 25 years, and never told ANYONE. It was weird how embarassed I was of it It was like a nightmare when I gave myself a scalp infection 5 years ago and had to explain to the doctor what on earth was going on. But growing my hair out had a really positve impact. I guess it gave me something to look forward to. Between that and a  bit of Rx, I havent' had that impulse to pull my hair out in nearly 4 1/2 years.

YESYESYES!!! The "positive visualization" of long hair has helped me tremendously. If it weren't for my hardcore dream of having long hair, the pulling would still be haunting me on and off. Noelkara-- After 25 years of pulling and you've quit for 4 1/2... that's so inspiring to me! Cheesy and thanks so much everybody for your support. I hope I give back the same.

Hugs,
Anais
