i know i cant be the only one who *occasionally* does stuff that would make my hair cry...so i was wondering what everyones hair sins are?

i think i'll confess the worst one: sometimes when im tired or stressed i just rip the comb through my hair (gasp) i hear a lot of snaps and come away with quite a few hairs......but it doesnt stop me when im in a rush! ahhhhh!!  Lips Sealed

c'mon people...tell all to your auntie bunny!

Sometimes when I find a hair I don't like, I pull it out. Sometimes I garden under the hot sun without a hat. Um... I wear it loose almost every day. and sleep with it in just a side ponytail...

Then again, my hair is the heavy-duty wash-and-wear type compared to most board members here I think... It seems that more folks here have fine hair than coarse. Leia, would you say you have heavy-duty hair too?

It's gone through bleach & permanent hair dye. Last year, it was teased a lot for halloween.  Recently though, not even combing/brushing it, before or after showers.  Still shampoo (i've tried COing, but it leaves my hair greasy.  i think i'm doing something wrong, but what?) It had little to none sun protection through the summer.  Curl with with heated plastic rollers occasionaly.  I'm so horrible with hair care, but it stay healthy  Undecided  I swear I'm changing my ways! (though i'll admit, old habits die hard  Tongue)

Ooh, I wish! My hair isn't fine or coarse - it's just in between. After one blow dry my hair becomes split-city  Wink. It tends to be dry (like my skin), so I have to really take care of it to make sure it stays shiny and healthy. Of course, after about half an hour when I leave it down, the length gets all frizzy  Undecided.

The rest of my family have heavy-duty hair, though. Mum blow dries and dyes and has the most PERFECT hair I've ever seen!

I'm working on a CO project to classify successful and unsuccessful CO products. Exactly what product did you use that left your hair greasy? Which brand and specific product name?

Products I have found that work are
  • VO5 Kiwi-Lime (though many people find it irritating)
  • VO5 Free Me Freesia
  • White Rain Extra Body
  • Suave Daily Clarifying
These brands all make other products that leave greasies, so you need to be careful which one you buy.

Hmm...I've tried White Rain Energizing Citrus, and it left me feeling horribly greasy. It's so cheap, though... Roll Eyes Maybe I'll try the Extra Body next time I buy more.

As for haircare sins...I've snapped more than my fair share of strands with quick combing as well. For some reason I also keep trying to use olive oil on my scalp for different experimental treatments, and it always just leaves me greasy. I keep using it though...I have horrible memory.  Roll Eyes

Put your olive oil in your kitchen cupboard and use it for cooking. Coconut oil is much better for your hair, not so icky-sticky.

That's a wonderful idea! Cheesy  I believe the one with greasy residue was Herbal Essences Rainforest Refreshing Conditioner.  I found most Herbal Essences products work wonderful (yes, i do have the urge to herbal), just the Rainforest products.  And Suave Naturals with raspberry & vitamin e extracts works well too.  Smiley

I love olive oil! I keep a special tub in my bathroom for my hair. It works really well on my dry scalp too.  Smiley

If you have good luck with it...

Too many people have difficulty washing it out or find it makes their ends crunchy for me to generally recommend it. How would you suggest that Cairn wash it out of her hair without using harsh shampoo?

Hmm.. I use Timotei, which is mild.. Lush shampoos work well, herbs work well, and I am recently in love with Body Shop Honey Moisturizing Shampoo.  Smiley
