Ficcare hair clips... I'm wondering what these are like. Does anyone own one? Are they hair safe?

I use a few that are not by the Ficcare brand... I think Evita Peroni. I got mine at least 6 years ago, and they work really well. Great for updos!

Yes,I've got an Evita Peroni Pelican Clip too,and it's great!
Holds up all of my hair securely in an updo all day and it's very hair-friendly too(smooth, rounded edges). And not too expensive Smiley
I have got one Ficcare which I bought many years ago(5 or 6 years)and I don't really like it all that much.I don't know if the type that I have is still available these days, but the spring is *very* strong. This sounds good for keeping the hair up securely, but I have had quite a number of broken/bent hairs when I used it.The edges are also quite sharp, and it was rather expensive.
So,for me the Evita Peronis win Wink

I don't own a Ficarre, but I have heard rave reveiws of them.  People who have them claim they are very hair friendly and the spring is very strong so that it holds very well.

Thanks everybody, I'll have to do some research on these Evitas : ) My hair is too slippery for hairsticks so I want to find a hair friendly spring clip.

Hi Anais, and everyone,

I am very curious about the Ficcare hair clips, too.  If you find anything more on them I hope you will post it here--like, what size, style, color, where to order, etc.)
I haven't found much on them.

Thanks

Ficcare is a brand name.  I don't believe Claires carries the brand Ficcare.  There are lots of imitation clips out there there do not hold like Ficcare.  I've heard that Evita Peroni's are also a good brand.

Things to look for are rounded edges, so they don't "cut" or damage your hair; a strong spring so it will hold your hair in place; and tips that slide through your hair.

I like hair stuff by Evita Peroni, including their Ficcare shaped clips. They are usually hair friendly, pretty, and inexpensive  Smiley

Hey StrawberryFine,

After my first post on this thread, I went and did mounds of research! lol

to add to what everybody else said:

Ficcares are expensive.. but I hear they're very worth it. They run about 30 USD each, and they're kind of hard to find. Headgames.com has some I think, and Beautyjunky has some too... but they're not a very good selection and don't have the large size Maximus model (the pelican that holds the most hair). QVC is selling some for about 24 USD for two. They're the real thing too.

Ficcare doesn't have an accessible website nor an accessible catalog. I know people who do group orders to save money because there's an order minimum if you go through the catalog.

Many Nordstroms also sell Ficcares.. if you want to buy or try one on for sizing.

Here's what I ordered from Evita Peroni:
http://mp.hairboutique.com/product.asp?ProdID=104238&CtgID=

It looks and works exactly like a Ficcare Maximus but mounds cheaper. It can be sanded down and smoothed a bit if necessary.

HTH

Anais,

Thanks for sharing all your hard work and research!

I looked at the Evita Peroni that you have ordered and I think I will do that too.  Grin

Do you know if the EP clips have metal teeth on the inside like some of the Ficcare clips were described?

Thanks,
strawberry

Hey Everybody  Wink

Strawberryfine, yes the EP Audrey Pelicans do have a row of teeth.. I am not sure about the other EP clips though. From what I hear, the EP AP is a very "weird", wide, and heavy clip that holds a lot of hair. Sounds good to me! Grin They are almost identical to the Ficcare in spring strength.

The edges on the teeth can be sanded down with silicon carbide (I think it's marketed as automotive sandpaper) and then you can coat the heck out of the little buggers with clear nail varnish.

I bought a nice long scünci brand fakkare while I was on vacation this summer. It doesn't have any teeth, but it does a bangup job holding my bun in place, as the points are not too thick and spear my bun easily, while the spring is very secure. I just had a compliment (well, several actually) from my supervisor on my night job, who had never seen one before.

I'd buy some of the real thing, but I don't think they're available around here (and I don't have the cash, either).
