So Sad. :(
Aug 4th, 2004 at 7:58pm

After several times of resisting the urge to cut..I caved and cut my hair that was about 39 inches from front to back...Now I am horribly sad and cannot believe what I did. I actually cried when I saw it. It is now about 22 inches long and feels sooo short. I thought at one time I read about a supplement that possibly increased hair growth? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is this something you wanted, at least at the time, or were you bullied or tricked into it?

If your friends pressured you into it, they really weren't your friends. Or even if they thought they had your best interests at heart, you should let them know how unhappy this has made you feel.

If a salon did it against your wishes, you should complain, and never go back there. And they should not have tried to talk you into a cut of their choice.

If it was your idea, you should consider it a learning experience. We all make mistakes, and we all do things that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Your hair will grow back, even though way too slowly. But next time you get this urge, pull out your hair journal and remember how you felt at this time.

If you don't have a hair journal, you should start one now. It will help you find out what works best for you and optimize your hair care.

Oh no!!!! 39 inches long... That sounds so beautiful. Don't worry, with patience and a few years your hair will grow back to its original length. Hair can't be made to grow faster, but it can be grown healthy. We at Longlocks will help you with our discussions and support... and with gentle care, your hair will be even more gorgeous than it was before you cut it.

Best of luck

Oh dear.  Well, I can tell you what I do whenever I have "too much" hair cut off, even if I wanted it at the time.  I consider how fabulous the ends look and how so much more hair is now the same length, and keep in mind that I have a great basis for hair in fabulous condition once it grows back.  Healthy hair is beautiful at any length, and your hair certainly isn't short, just shorter than it was!  It will grow back and be more beautiful and in better condition than ever :)

Awwww I really feel for you. I know just what you mean about having your hair cut and feeling gutted. Most of my family have short hair, and are often trying to get me to have my waist length hair cut shorter, and a few times, I've gone along with it, and really regretted it. I think there's only been a handful of times that I've been to a salon and come out feeling happy with the results. Normally, if I've had a chunk cut off, I come out feeling really gloomy and sad that I was so stupid as to have had it cut.
Don't worry, you're hair will grow back, and I happen to know that using straighteners on your hair will also make it look longer!!!  Cheesy 22inches long isn't really that short....it could be so much worse if you'd had it cut to shoulder length and regretted it. Use 2 mirrors to see how long your hair is against your back, and you'll see that you shouldn't have too much longer to grow before its at your waist again and then it will just grow and grow and grow.... Smiley Keep your chin up!
