SQUEEE!! I did it!!
Jul 22nd, 2004 at 9:04pm

Thanks so much, Space_Cadet, for those braiding links! I go so psyched at doing them, I HAD to try and do one on myself. I had to learn how to dutch braid first, but once I got it, I was able to do my own variation on the Dutch Classic.

...

I added the ribbon, and for a first attempt, considering I can't really see and doing this on myself with no help, I think I did a fairly decent job.
Granted, I could start a little more to the side in the fron perhaps, and get those braids a little tighter. Not much I can do about the Frizzies though, unless someone has a suggestion?

Just HAD to share!

With alot of frustration at the beginning, but I find it helps keeping your hands close to your head while looking in the mirror.
If you follow the directions from the sight, just reverse the hands: So when they say move your right hand, in the mirror, it'll be your left. Smiley

Alot of patience goes along way too. I had to take a rbeak from it. The time I actually got it, was my fourth try. The first three were me getting used to the hand positions. Smiley

Thanks BikerBraid!

It's getting easier and easier each time I do it. I guess my hands are starting to learn a bit better how to grip the hair a bit tighter. I took out the one in the picture, and re-did it so I could show my fiance. It turned out much better and was a bit tighter. Still have a bit of fly away strands though, much to my chagrin.  Angry

Other than that, I have a photoshoot on Friday, and will have this hair style, plus a few temporary extensions in. I will be sure to post photos here again. Smiley

Nope, not a first attempt.
It was the fourth time I tried, and it was done after I decided I was going to go for a shower. I was standing in front of the mirror, waiting for my V05 Hot Protein pack to warm up, brushing my hair, and I figured to try again. It actually worked, so I tried doing the other side and got it as well.

Seems to be getting easier now each time I do it.

Now if I can just get rid of the frizzies, I'll be a happy camper. Smiley

A little aloe vera gel might help the frizzes! Great pictures!  Wink

Thanks Leia. Smiley

The Gown I made myself actually, using Simplicity pattern 9891 with a few modifications.
The Outer dress is flocked taffeta and the under dress is satin back crepe.
The was the first dress I had ever sewn in a non-home economics class type of way, and the last time I was in Home Ec, was close to 15 years ago. *LOL*
Not so sure I'm happy with the bell sleves though. I might re-do this pattern and alter the sleeves a bit, maybe with the sleeve pattern from Simplicity 9929. Smiley
Anyways...
The hair also were partial extensions as well, that could be taken out at the end of the way. I had a bunch of toyokalon grade loose hair and hot glue gunned it to a Goody comb in two sizes. They started to pop out though near the end of the shoot.

Oooo Kaylin, don't you look elegant! Shocked
You look as though an incredibly sexy, powerful and somewhat evil warlock is standing just behind your right shoulder, and you are acknowledging his presence but certainly not condescending to turn around. Heehee!
