chamomile rinse?
Jul 14th, 2004 at 1:24pm

My chamomile plant is just coming into flower - I'd like to do a rinse on my hair - but when do you use the flowers and how? Do you wait for them to fully flower? Also how do you do the rinse - do you pour boiling water over fresh flowers, dry them first? or doesn't it matter? Any tips - greatly appreciated.

Here's a recipe I've seen around.

CHAMOMILE HAIR RINSE
1/2 cup dried chamomile flowers
4 cups water
Boil together for 5 minutes. Strain. Apply to the hair after washing.

There are other recipes in the Hair Care Recipe Cookbook.

Wait til they fully flower, then cut or pick and spread on a cookie sheet in a warm, dry place. A gas oven with a pilot is ideal, but if the weather is humid and you don't have one, it can take much longer to dry, maybe several days. They are done when they are crispy/crunchy, no longer flexible.
