Questions on HairStix for Men
Jun 17th, 2004 at 2:46am

Hello! Who has tried the men's hairstix (ChapStix)? Are you using one or two? I often wear my hair in a low bee-butt bun. I'm looking for other formal hairstyles and I am thinking I might be able to pull off wearing the ChapStix. Do guys generally wear the darker colors? More general questions: do shorter people get shorter hairstix or is it 'one-size-fits-all'? Do people mix-and match hairstix or do they wear matched pairs? Finally, about how long does a custom order take? FWIW, my hair is *just* above 'mid-back length' (MBL) which some people call 'BSL'  Grin.

Some men wear one of the ChapStix, some men wear two, it depends on the style.  It only takes one to make a ponytail but if you want to make a bun, two is usually better.  Men do seem to like the darker colors more.

As far as the length goes, my hair is to my hips, is fine but relatively thick, and I can hold it all up with the normal length sticks... RapunzelStix are *way* too long for me.

Yes, people sure do mix and match hairsticks!  I have several customers who prefer to buy singles and mix and match them, though I must say that *most* people wear matched sets.

My custom schedule is currently full until November!  I do a lot of custom work and how long it takes to do a design depends on a lot of things... the complexity of the design, the complexity of the other designs on which I am currently working and how busy LongLocks is at the time, to name but a few.  If you are interested in securing a spot in my custom schedule, feel free to write me through the Contact Form and I'll be happy to send you all the info.

My hair is extra thick and almost hiplength, and I prefer the longer hairsticks. Plus a lot doesn't stick out of one end because my buns are quite big. For your hair I think the shorter ones might be better.

I just wanted to add that I took the plunge and ordered a pair of chapstix (heading to Ottawa, Canada). I'll learn to use these and then decide if I can add custom hairstix to my personal style. 'Rapunzel', I fully understand the long wait for your custom work. In my experience the best artisans always have the longest lines.
