Birthday Hair!
Jun 15th, 2004 at 5:29pm

Hi -

I will be celebrating my 30th birthday in about a month, and I'm planning (among other things) a dinner with my closest friends. I am at a loss regarding what to do with my hair, it's in that awkward phase right now. We'll probably be eating outdoors and I need a look which isn't too formal, which accentuates my curls, and makes me look summery and gorgeous and carefree.

I have curly hair. It is about to the bottom of my neck in the back, much shorter in the front. I can just barely put it in a ponytail. My hair is still so short that half-updos don't frame my face very well, and the hair which hangs down is straight and wispy - not the best look for me. French-braiding isn't an option for this occasion, as all my curls disappear and I look too formal. Too much handling of my hair removes the curl and makes it frizzy.

I'll be out during the day (my partner won't tell me where), so I probably won't have too much time to do my hair (i.e. rag curls etc. are out). I've thought about pin curls or twisties, but I don't really know how to do them properly. Where should I take the hair from for curls/twisties? Where should I pin them? And what should I do with the rest of my hair? I still have time to experiment so all suggestions are welcome. Smiley

You could wear a headband, or put some twisties in the front,  or put a ponytail in the top. Undecided i cant really think of anything else but if I do I will let you know.  Smiley

I've thought of twisties, but I just don't know how to do an entire look with them. And I can't do a high ponytail yet.

I can't see the pic either, bikerbraid.
