Access to descriptions of "sold" sticks
Oct 15th, 2003 at 12:10pm

I absolutely love the site, and spend way too much money on hairsticks!  Roll Eyes  The only suggestion that I have that would probably make me spend *more* money on the site is if I could click on sticks that say "sold" and still see the description of them.  I can do that with sticks whose owners have commented upon them in the "kudos" section, but I can't click on any "sold" sticks and read the description.  It would be great if I could, because then if I missed something  Embarrassed I could special order another set that is similar  Cheesy

Did I mention that I am hooked on hairsticks?  Grin

I'm sure Rapunzel would do anything to encourage more hairstick sales  Wink.  Which ones are your favorites?

Wow, thanks for the positive feedback!

Unfortunately, we have to remove the item description because they can still be accessed by people who save them as favorites and search engines.  This keeps people from trying to reorder the same one-of-a-kind sticks.  All is not lost, however!  If you see something you are really interested in, there are three sort of workarounds that may get you what you are looking for:

1. If all you really need to do is see the pictures and not the actual description, all you have to do is pull up the jpgs, which stay on the server forever because I rarely find time to remove them.  To do this, just type http://www.longlocks.com/picturename.jpg (that link won't work here because it's just an example) where "picturename" is the name of the hairsticks in all lowercase with no spaces.  If you want to see a closeup then add a "c" to the end of the name, http://www.longlocks.com/picturenamec.jpg (also a non working link).  The only exception to this rule are GeishaStix, which don't have an additional closeup.  Here are some examples that do work:

http://www.longlocks.com/frostedwildflower.jpg

http://www.longlocks.com/frostedwildflowerc.jpg

2. If you need to see the description, you might want to try downloading our Adobe PDF catalog.  Since this is only updated once a month, all the descriptions in it don't go anywhere until the catalog is updated.

3. Last but not least, you can try doing a search on Google (http://www.google.com) for "LongLocks HairSticks" and the name of the design (example: longlocks hairsticks frosted wildflower).  Once you've found it, click the "cached" link that appears at the end of the Google description for the page.  You should see the whole description as it appeared when Google last crawled the site.

If you don't have any luck you can always just write and ask for information on a pair of sold sticks.  We're always happy to do special orders as long as you keep in mind that something, however minor, has to change in the design to keep both pairs unique and special to their owners :)

See?  Where there's a will, there's *always* a way!  LOL!

Thanks for the quick reply.  I don't know if I'm "techie" enough to understand the whole "type in the url thing-ee"  Undecided but I will plan on downloading the new pdf catalog once a month.

One of the main reasons that I like to see the descriptions of the sticks is that often, the colors that I see in the picture are not exactly how you describe them.  For instance, some of the sticks may appear to be sage green, but the description will say "olivine."  ??? I guess it's my monitor or something, but I like to read the descriptions to truly understand how the sticks appear.

Your descriptions are often what "sell" me on buying the sticks.  They are sooooo much more beautiful in person than in the photos!   Cheesy Not that your photos aren't lovely, but having the stick "in hand" is much more satisfying!  Wink (don't read too much into *that* little statement, as I *did* mean hairsticks! LOL!)  Shocked

Well, that's a hard question to answer...I love the GemStix, especially the jade and jasper.  Additionally, I love the GlitterStix, and the GlimmerStix, and the ImpressioniStix! Oh! the HoloStix are gorgeous, too!  and the Majestix, and....I could go on all day....I'm obsessed!

I seem to be most attracted to the beads that are color infused or swirled with color, or the ones that look like fractured glass.

I was especially disappointed this week that I missed the Blueberry Swirl Stix, but I really couldn't figure out a way to rationalize purchasing them, and by the time I rationalized, they were gone! Cry

However, sometimes I have purchased a pair that I wasn't positive I loved until I got them and fell in love!  I recently purchased a pair of peach-colored stix that *sounded* fabulous, but the picture didn't seem to reflect the beauty described in the narrative.  I was soooo happy when I saw them!  They are my new favorite sticks!  (until next time I order, and then *those* will be my new favorites! Grin )

Don't worry, I understand and I totally agree that the pictures cannot live up to the way they look in "in real life."   Unfortunately, nothing 2-dimensional can really capture sparkle factor.  Sparkle factor is *so* important in my book!  The finishes can be very difficult to accurately photograph as well, and that's especially true for the ImpressioniStix and HoloStix styles.  However, most of the Collectors Club members come back for more of those once they actually see them in person, they are both very popular.  I'd rather spend my time ensuring the quality of the hairsticks than waste it on doing out-of-this-world photos, but it's not easy to make the compromise when you're obsessive, LOL!

Absolutely, and I hope you don't think I'm complaining!  I guess what I'm saying is that those who haven't bought a pair of your sticks don't realize how lovely they are in person!  But additionally, I really enjoy your narratives about each stick, because they really do translate the "sparkle factor" into words!  Awesome!

Not at all, as I said I agree with you *completely.*  I'm glad you enjoy my descriptions.  I wish I were more than one person so I could succumb to my natural instinct to be obsessive with everything but unfortunately, something has to give and it AIN'T gonna be my sticks!  ;)
