Title: No growth Post by Melusine on Jul 23rd, 2009 at 12:48pm
Hi, everyone, my hair has apparently stopped growing, and I am experiencing more shedding than normal. I think it is my normal spring molt, :) just delayed because it was so unseasonably cool this year until well into June. I know that hair enters a resting stage, but not when, how often or how long. Any insights here? thanks.

Hi! When an individual hair falls, it rests 100 days before growing anew. I don't know about the whole head though, if it rests w/o loosing the hair and then starts adding new length.
I think sometimes it can seem like no new growth if the ends are breaking off. I think this happens the longer (older) the hair is as it is more fragile. Just my .02. |

Thank you, Isabeau and Sakina. I think some of it is breakage, which could be because I am putting it up in a bun, using bobby pins on the weekend under my snood. Hmm, I will have to try something else. Any suggestions?

How about the Amish Hair Pins? They work great for a bun or maybe under a snood!

Oh, yes. You must have some Amish Hair Pins! I cannot do my hair without them!!!

I know I'm a Spring/Summer shedder too. I've got that faux mohawk thing going on at the top. ;D Sorry, I don't know any more than you. It's the regrowth after the shedding. It's not a bad thing it just looks awful.

Thank you all, I think the breakage is coming from the leave in products I have been trying to tame the frizzies. Mousse, gel, and serums all seem to cause breakage. So now I am trying conditioning and rinsing every morming in the shower, and cutting down the vinegar rinses to every 2nd or 3rd shampoo, which I do every 3rd or 4th day. The extra conditioning does seem to tame the frizzies somewhat.

It could just be that your longer lengths were in a resting phase and the shorter "new hair was ina growing phase, thus making it appear you were not gainging any length. This is just a theory.
