Title: update on my hair + some questions
Post by daynebrenna12 on May 4th, 2009 at 5:43am
Hey guys, just thought i give you give you update on my hair journey and as ksome questions :)

-I stopped using a blowdryer about a month and a half ago. I have to say, even though I was previously using it on cool and in moderation, it has made a HUGE difference!
-I use very minimal/no product, and this surprising seems to be better.
-I cut another inch off my hair around Eastertime (it has already grown that inch back). Anyways, now there is only about a half inch left of my colored hair and a little more than an inch left of my blond streak!
-I have been playing around with products and regimens trying to see what works and what does not.

I am very happy that my hair is growing at superspeed. It always grew like that until the stupid coloring nonsense happened, and since I bit the bullet and cut off the damage its back to normal. I am finishing my freshman year of college and when I go home this week I am planning to trim that last bit of color off.

I do have some questions about products if you all could help me out; I have read the messages on this site and tons of articles, but I am still really confused about them. Sulfates, silicones, synthetic, natural, brands, opinions, results!!! I do not want to use anything bad for my hair but I am not even sure what is good or bad anymore haha. Anytime something seems to be working it will cause a problem like buildup or dry frizz. Please suggust shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and products for me. My hair is: 2cFii, a little oily near the scalp/a little dry near the ends, buildup occurs pretty easily.

Thank you so much, love you guys!

Oh, and also, I need tips on what to do when I sleep? If I leave it down the back gets really frizzy and damaged. Showercap? Satin pillowcase? My hair is shoulder length. Thanks again!

Hey, Daynebrenna12.

I know you don't know me, but congrats on growing out your colour. I have firsthand experience with that and know how aggravating it can be. :P

As far as products go, it's best just to pick something that looks/sounds appealing and try it out. If something works for you, don't question it. If it doesn't, try something else. I'm not going to sit here and tell you "this is good and that's bad" because all I know is what works for me. And that may be worlds away from what works for you.
Just get out there and try like the rest of us have.

Satin pillowcases are an absolute necessity in my book. Satin sheet sets are even better. Especially if you're a back sleeper or move around a lot during the night.
Definitely don't sleep in a showercap! 90% of your body's heat escapes through your head and if you cover it with plastic, you'll have a nasty greenhouse effect. :P This not only causes your scalp to produce excess oil, it could lead to breakouts. Plus, all that crunching from the plastic will surely keep you awake.

If satin pillowcases are out of the question, you could get a satin slumber cap (wear it so the smooth side faces your hair).
