i need some ideas for my prom hairstyle.
here is a picture of my hair now

and here is a picture of my dress

i would appreciate any ideas!!!!

Hi, emmi116! Welcome to LongLocks!

First off, your hair is gorgeous! and your dress is very pretty-I think the color is perfect for you.

Gosh, you have so many options for your hair!! That being said, what kind of gal are you: do you want something simple (no fuss) or complicated? Do you have any accessories you want to include in your 'do? Do you want it all up? Partly up? Do you hate product or OK with it? Will you be doing your hair yourself, and if yes, what can you do already?

What's the weather like where you live? What's your personal style?

Seriously, you have so many options I need an idea where to start!

first off, i'm sorry for the lack of details. i didn't realize.
1. i would like something simple and lasting, i don't want my hair to fall apart on the dance floor
2. i'm fine with like a fancy barrette or something, i don't want to go accessory crazy
3. i'm fine with product in my hair, i use something in it almost everyday
4. i'm open to anything-up or partly up
5. i haven't decided on whether or not i'm doing my hair myself....if i have some sort of direction i can most likely try and do something myself
6. i live in new york so by the time prom comes it'll be nice and warm
7. my style? i want people to notice my hair but also notice me, if that makes sense :-?

Love your hair and dress!

My suggestion would be:

If the picture shows your natural curl, I'd show that off. Pulling just the front back and use a pretty barrette to hold it and let your natural curls fall.

How about making your hair really curly (with product or however you prefer to do it) and take 1/2of your hair and make a ponytail and flip it through. You can add a comb, barrette or fancy bobby pins as an accent. My favorite example of this is in the movie "Pride and Prejudice"-the one w/Keira Knightly. The older sister (Rosamund Pike) wears her hair like this so nicely.

Does that fit the bill??? BTW, if you think you might want to do some sort of bun, be sure to get some Amish hair pins and order them asap. You'll find them on www.plainlydressed.com in the headcoverings section.

Hi!

Your hair and dress (and you too!) are absolutely lovely. I've recently become a huge fan of renaissance-type hair braiding. There are a lot of idea (and how-to) websites out there. Just google 'renaissance hair braiding.' There are a lot of these styles you can create yourself or with another person, though I would recommend practicing before the big night! Most of these styles will stay for hours with little or no product, and the sites have both all-up and partially-up braids. You'll get noticed for sure, too!
