I've been really wanting to buy some hair toys for my hair(like clips,stix, ect) but not really expensiveso where does everyone on here gte there beautiful, amaizng, or just plain cute hair toys?I understand that longlocks has some but I can only afford those for bday and christamas so I'm thinking more casual.

Claire's.  I've gotten several sets of hair stix there for >$5.  You might have to file off some seams, tho.  They also sometimes have smaller scrunchies, which I love, because my hair is so fine and thin.

Icing.  It's another store by the same company as Claire's, and they have similar stuff, just not as brightly colored.

Some people also make their own, but I've never done any of that.

Target and Ulta are worth looking at for inexpensive hair toys.  If you check the items carefully, you can find hair friendly toys for little cash.

I realize this is a bad word for some folks, but I get most of mine at Wal Mart.   :)  Check at Walgreens, too, or whatever is similar in your area.  

For the most part, I make my own. Retail establishments rarely ever have anything hair safe that complements my style at the same time. So I'll usually buy something hair safe and then modify it. Much more personal that way. And I know that no one else out there has the same thing (even if they're wearing the same basic piece). ;)

Claires and Target are probably my most frequent starting points. The Icing has decent stuff on occasion. But mainly, I just keep an eye out wherever I happen to be. You never know where you might find something cool.
   Most of my decorating supplies come from Michaels...flowers, jewels, feathers, glitter, whatever. But you can find decent stuff at fabric stores or even, yes, Walmart. :P

Also, every once in awhile, someone will put up a link to a great hair toy site in one of these forums (in some cases, I find that I can make whatever the sites are selling). It's mostly about keeping your eyes open. ;)

;D That's where I find them too.  ::) But honestly the best ones I've found are when you aren't really looking for them. You just wander into the hair aisle and poof they jump out at you.  :D

My crafting abilities stink so I'll stick to store bought.  ;D ::)

Not really. I just sort of keep my eyes open for things that I can work with. Headbands, hair sticks, barrettes, clips, whatever. As a general rule, I avoid things with mad seams on them. I try to find items that are already hair safe - that's easiest; or things with very minor flaws (ie. little seams, rough spots, etc.) that can be filed down and painted over without too much effort. I also completely avoid hair toys with teeth.
   Basically, whatever it is just has to be hair safe to start with. Simple is fine since I can embellish later.

For decorations, pretty much anything goes. I don't think I've ever shopped online for them since I can get everything that I need locally.

I just keep an eye out- you can find them in all sorts of places.  Around where I live there is this Japanese store where everything costs $1.50 and I can get good stuff there sometimes.  Then I just keep looking- my mom and I go to Chinatown or Japantown and I look around there.

My favorite cheap hair toy I got at the Japanese store- hair sticks with little smiley faces painted on the ends.  They never fail to make me cheer up!

I know a lot of vintage ladies order stuff from this place but I didn't know they had hair stuff too.  I wish I didn't  have the outside of EU shipping cost issue though. ::)
