Ok, for some time now when I put my hand behind my hair, I can see my hand thru the ends.  So, I started trimming my ends to help thicken them up.  They are thicker now, but what is causing me to still be able to see thru my ends?  Is it cuz my hair is light colored?  Are my ends still to thin?  Or perhaps, is it cuz my ends are dry? Or cuz my hair is graying and the ends are more noticeable to me?  Or could it be the color of clothing I am wearing when I check out my ends?

I have begun to use Neem oil on the ends and length and this has really helped for the dryness.  I dont want to cut until Dec. as I have started a new experiment.  
What do I do?  Is it possible I am being to consentious about my hair?  I do too very often compare my hair to others I see.  I know I shouldnt do that . ::).  hmmm--maybe the see-thru ends are just my imagination.  No, I think they are real.

Well, if you don't have a lot of obvious braid taper and have been trimming, it might just be that each strand of hair is thinner towards the end.  many of mine are like that, but I think it's because my hair became darker and coarser when I went through puberty, and so my older ends are finer.
But it could be a hormone change thing that made your hair different in the past.  

When I look at a shed hair of mine that was full length, the end is thinner than the root.  I attribute this to the fact that the end is probably 8 - 10 years old and has lost some of its thickness due to friction over time.  The longer your hair is, the more likely it is that the ends will be thinner.  Also, the thinner your hair strand was initially, the more noticable this will be.

Don't over think this and don't feel you have to trim/cut just because it is a bit thinner - that is the natural course of things.

Thanks for the replies.  It makes sense since my hair is about 10 yrs old and I have gone thru "the change" since starting to grow out.
