1976 ... "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" by Rod Stewart

Oh Dear.....I think I'd prefer to crawl back into the womb. ::)

I'm going to give myself some music therapy with Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Nox Arcana, The Awakening, Jussi Bjørling, Sumi Jo, The Cars, Joy Divison, Spleen United, The Everly Brothers, Bobby Darin, Connie Francis, Bobby Rydell, Frankie Avalon and Patti Page.  If I haven't recovered after that I don't know what I'll do. :-? :o

*Closes all curtains, lights candles, dons mourning dress and black veil and cranks up Savoy Orpheans and practices the Charleston*.

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship... hmm... :-/ I think I've heard it before... if I did it was awhile ago... at least I'm not the only one who can't stand Rod Stewart.  :P

"I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5.  Interesting and depressing at the same time.  Hmmmm.  I probably never heard this song.  My parents only listened to classical music.  I didn't hear pop music until I was aroung 12, when my sister and I got boom boxes for Christmas.

Thanks, LD, for sharing that link.

You Light Up My Life by Debbie Boone.

I'm listening to it right now on youtube.  It's one of those cheesy romantic songs that make you want to weep and vomit at the same time.

The album my parents were listening to the year I was born was Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf.  Much better.  "Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?"

That and Terrapin Station by the Grateful Dead.
"Watching stars by candlelight
All are dim but one is bright
the spiral light of venus
rising first and shining best
from the northwest corner
of a brand new crescent moon"

I suppose that reveals something about my musical upbringing.  ;)

:)My birthday is july 5th, 1995 (yes I'm only 13) and the song is called "Waterfalls" by the TLC. I think I've heard it before, and it's okay.
Thanks La Diosa, that's really cool.

;D

That was one of my favorite songs that year! :D  Yeah, I guess it could be looked at as depressing.  However as a teenager, I was  never one to shy away from "depressing" type songs.  I believe, Everybody Hurts from REM also came out around the same time, and for some reason, that was a favorite too. :P  Perhaps, it was due to the "teenage angst" that I was always hearing about. ::)

Nowdays, I try to stay away from songs with lyrics, unless they are mood elevators. :)

My school played that during a slideshow when I graduated from 8th grade, I think. All of the slides were pictures of my classmates doing different things at the school...mostly just hanging out together. I remember sitting in the dark of the auditorium while the slideshow was playing and looking over at a group of girls who were all sitting together and crying.  ::)

The wayward Wind.  :-/

Never heard of it. Everything was still vacuum tubes then. I'm not even sure stereo existed at that time. Now the one for 1969 was really cool. In the year 2525. I remember when that was popular. Couldn't get enough of it!

My husband was My Sharona, and my daughter a song I've never heard by Janet Jackson.

This used to Be my Playground and Everybody Hurts were some of my favorite songs in high school.  Early High School.  Also Waterfalls.  Everybody Hurts was actually an uplifting song for me on those lonely days when I felt that I was the only one in the world without a boyfriend, without money, who couldn't do what I wanted in life.  I suppose it sounds a little petty, but it was high school and it made me feel like I wasn't the only one in the world feeling that way.  Not just me, everybody has felt that way.
