Title: Odd recipe Post by ForeverFay on Jul 22nd, 2008 at 12:12am
Hi all!
So I was meandering through Yahoo Answer when I came across this topic about hair growth/recipes/random stuff. Well I have probably the weirdest hair cut of all time as far as trying to keep it pretty.(Although I do love it I have had a few very close calls with chopping it all off)My hair is in about 14 layers(I told you it's ridiculous) and the longest one is 15 inches(just past my collar bone/mid shoulder blade in back.Well anyway I haven;t tried this but I thought maybe someone would and could tell me how it turns out? This is the article word for word. "Dont go out and buy anything expensive. First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why) Second: TRIM your hair ends ( 1 1/2 to 2 inches) Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey) Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften & remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!! The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner. When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo & condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years " Me again, I don't really like the whold "Cut your hair two inches"thing because uh hello it took me 4 months for those two inces and I'm not about to go snip them. Well anyway...enjoy and feedback would be nice as far as is it worth it? Disclaimer:Not my recipe...something I found and wanted to share. Love all of you long-locked ladies(and gents) :) ~Ace |

The mixture of oils and honey would be an excellent deep conditioner. It would probably work best on medium to thick stranded hair. Thin stranded hair may not be able to absorb the larger molecule oils that are used. Honey is a humectant - it will help moisturize your hair and give it shine as it helps with the frizzies.
Not a bad receipe. I agree that the cutting is not a necessary step (unless it is necessary to eliminate damaged hair), but the rest is good advice. |

I have decently thick hair so this may work for mine.
Any suggestions on how much of each to add? |

You could start with equal parts of each. You will want to make enough to coat your hair, but not have it drippy with the oil - just a bit stringy looking. A teaspoon of each might be a good starting point.
